Got costume for MNSSHP & I look like a DORK!

Shan,

Be glad you can look like a dork and blame it on the costume! Real dorks don't have that option.

PS: Could you post a photo? I'm hot for anyone in an Alice costume. ;) She was the first character I had a photo with. DW still teases me about it.

ok - everyone else wants to see a pic of you in the Alice costume, but what i really want to see is a pic of your DH in the "waffel house waitress" get-up. just the idea has me rolling.:rotfl:

If I can dress like a big mouse, you certainly can dress like Alice:

And see, I wasn't the only one:

I promise everyone - I will post a photo!

Actually, lori I totally forgot about this and MIL reminded my yesterday -

One year before hubby and I got married he went as a 20s Flapper. He was very skinny then (I've plumped him up a tad these last ten years.) and he looked so good I almost couldn't even look at him it freaked me out so.

He'll dress up as anything it appears!

Oh that's great Jeff! :)
And the girls look adorable!

Do you mind me asking if that was early on in October or later in the month? (I don't know why I'm so concerned about this...)

Ok have read all the posts and all of your posts and judging from the way you write about your husband ... you have nothing to worry about. Sounds like he is dressing to the hilt and loves attention, will probably play the part too! So everyone will probably be directing their attention toward him and you will merely be with him.

Really go, dress up and have fun! Be Amish Alice in Wonderland - there will be no Amish people there to offend.

Liz

I always go dressed. Even when we go Trick or Treating with DD, I alway dress up.

When she gets too old for it, I'm going to have to rent a kid. [/B]

Why rent a kid? When I pass out candy at home, I always dress up. Last year was the first time, but that was only because I was extremely tired and really didn't feel good, but my DD (17) dressed up and sat outside. Unfortunately we didn't get any trick or treaters. (more candy for us).

lenshanem - I hope you do dress up. It will be a blast. I really can't wait to go - this will be my first time. I don't know why I'm not nervous about what my costume will look like. I guess because if you can roller skate as a cat (leotard with a tail attached & ears) then you can go as anything. (This was when I was still skinny).

:p I wonder, really? Think no Amish have ever been to WDW?!?

Liz, you're right. I'm sure he'll play it up. Geez... I can't believe I'm gonna go thru with this...

Jeff, GREAT photos! hee hee, can't wait to see everyone's costumes! And see pics of SHAN in her ALICE costume!!! ;)

Hey Shan!

We finally decided on a costume! Our theme is...IT CAME FROM THE 80s! So you won't be the only ones dressed up. It will be fun! Can't wait to see you there!

:)

I did this last year for a Halloween Party, I wore my tightest black jeans rolled up with Gray and White Socks (pushed down) and a gray sweatshirt with the neck cut off ala Flashdance with a black tank top under.

I also CRIMPED my hair and put half of it up in a pony tail on the top of my head, and of course did the "mall hair" bangs and wore wonderful blue eyeshadow all the way up to my eye brows...LOL

I am 29 and I went into a gas station to get cigarettes for my DH and I got carded :hyper: LOL

I thought "Maybe I should dress like this more often??

I'm not really sure yet. Tight jeans or high water pants, an izod. He's going to grow a mustache just for the occasion (it looks soooo funny!). I guess I'll do my hair big (that won't be a stretch), spackle on the makeup and wear some horrendous outfit.

We really need to hit the Goodwill tonight!

2 more days! WOOOHOOO!!!:jumping1: :jumping1:

Try and find a "members only" jacket too....LOL

Oh it sounds like so much fun. We have not decided if we are going to be able to make it to MNSSHP or not. I am still trying to talk DH into it.

First of all, it's a Halloween party, not a city council meeting... Would you rather look back on your pictures and remember: Wow! I can't believe I did that - I look like a dork but I had so much fun. Remember how I tried to get out of wearing that Alice costume? I'm glad I did it, that was a memorable night! OR Oh yeah... that Halloween T-shirt. I had bought an Alice costume but I didn't wear it... (sigh)

And I know you're concerned about it being too early in the month, but I can't wait until Friday the 1st. I have a whole bag of Halloween decorations waiting to be put up, but DH won't let me until it's officially October.

I don't have any children, so I don't get to go trick or treating. And I don't know what it is about Florida... but they don't seem to get in the Halloween Spirit like they did back in Minnesota. I blame it on the "Bible Belt" theory and the fact that many people in my area are not from the US. I haven't had any trick or treaters at my house in the 4 years I've been here. :( But, you have all inspired me - I'm going to beg my DH to go to MNSSHP this year. (I swear sometimes he has given his inner child up for adoption). Wish me luck!

As far as feeling like a dork - don't worry about it. I worked in the luggage department at ASMovies, there were a lot of adults that got dressed up before heading off to MK. I saw a grown man dressed as Bear from Bear In the Big Blue House. Full six foot costume - waiting at the MK Bus Stop. No one working with me said "wow, look at that dork"... we all thought it was so cool that he was dressed up and that he looked great.
Last year at work on Halloween Day, I was at my computer and one of my managers came up behind me and was asking me to run a business report (normal requests)... I turned around and she was a huge M&M. It was great!

Ok I know you are back!
I want to hear all about the costume!!

I am back. :)

We had a blast. I wore the costume and I'm glad I did. Several DISers spotted me, too! :p

I have to admit not many adults were dressed up. Many kids weren't dressed up either, but as soon as we got on the bus at OKW everyone was like - ya'll look great!

I must say something about the MK made it all OK. Like it was normal to be dressed up or something!

Anyway, I'll be doing a more detailed trip report soon and I'll post a link. I have to get the kids back into a routine. (I also dropped off our film today.)

Thanks for all the encouragement. Hubby and I agreed it wouldn't have been as much fun if we hadn't done it. :sunny:

Awesome!!

Im so glad you two had fun!
Can't wait to see the pics!

What was I thinking??? I ordered a Mrs. Potts costume...

A. How do I get it to DW? I think I have to ship it ahead of time!

B. It's really, really, SHORT (meaning it ends JUST below the bottom, if you know what I mean...) so where do I find white tights or leggings this late in the year??

C. It's HUGE! Spout and handle.... I won't be able to ride anything!

So... I'm rethinking my costume.... and running out of time!pirate:
