Got Blockbuster card in the mail-1.99 rentals

I got a Blockbuster flyer in the mail for 1.99 rentals thru 7/15-unlimited rentals and no restrictions that I can find! I asked the clerk at Blockbuster if there were any strings attached, and he said no, I probably got it because I am a member of Blockbuster.com. So, I don't know if this is sent out to all members, or it is because we don't rent all that often. Is anybody else a member on these boards & did you get this promotion?
I am so excited because I love watching movies, but rarely get to see one all the way through due to three loud DDs. I went to Blockbuster today to grab a few movies with this promo-picked up Bruce Almighty & Paycheck...and there are a million others I can't wait to see! (Bad Boys 2, Somethings Got to Give, Lion King 2, Brother Bear, Kill Bill, etc etc etc) So many movies, so little time..Woo hoo!

This might be from the class action suit. I remember something about the were charging late fees when they weren't supposed to and they were to reimburse the "public". This might be it.

there have been a few different cards mailed out, IE $1.99, rent one get one free. None of these have anything to do with the lawsuit. It is just their way to try to entice people to stop in more often. From what the employee's have been told all these promtional cards are sent out randomly. This has been going on for a few months now. No late charges can be taken care of with this card.

I agree, it is just to gain more business. They have probably been losing some business due to the extensive "cable" options, such as On-Demand.

Netflix is probably cutting into their business. I quit Blockbuster after all of their extended viewing fees and not checking movies back in upon return. Netflix mails dvds to you and doesn't charge late fees. Great setup and probably hurting BB business.

We got the $1.99 rental card too. We got it around the end of April and I think it was good until the end of May. It was a good deal till we forgot to return the movies on time and got a postcard with the late fees!
