I've been joking for a few months now about not having a porthole and I get one now!!! BUT...

The Passporters guide lists my stateroom as one to avoid due to constant noise and vibrations.. (it's under Wavebands) and it's a connecting room.. So I guess this is bad but having a Porthole may be worth it... there isn't chance of a downgrade at this point, is there?

Has anyone had cat 9 under wavebands before? Should I bring earplugs?

We were in room 2536 in January and I didn't think thie noise was that bad, it sure didn't keep us up at night. We were right under Rockin Bar D. All we could really hear was the Bass.

We were in cabin 2036 on the Wonder and we didn't really find it that bad either. You could hear the bass but it didn't bother us overly.
We usually were out until midnight or so, of course we were down in Wavebands, contributing to the noise level ;)

Daisy - how did you find out about the upgrade? on your docs? did you book directly through DCL?

We were under Rockin Bar D in a connecting room. As momnut said, all we really heard was the bass and it didn't bother us. Actually the connecting room was a bit more annoying because we could hear the family next door. However, it was definitely worth having the porthole! Also, Deck 2 is my favorite.

When I got home last night there was a UPS sticky on my front door so I knew the docs were on the their way... I checked the DCL website under 'get set to sail' and my stateroom was listed. And yes, I did book directly through DCL.

I guess it's true that I'll probably be out until 12:00 anyway so it should be fine having this room. I get a porthole that's the best part of it.. I've read the bad things about the connecting rooms too. For some reason I feel I've been upgraded to a room nobody else wants..

Are you cruising with kids? If not, then you might be a part of the noise in Wavebands...therefore, you'll be in Wavebands when the noise is going on and by the time you get back to your room late at night the noise will have stopped.

BUT, if you aren't going to be taking part in the nightlife or if you're cruising with someone who will want to get to sleep relatively early, then I'd be concerned.

We were in room 2616 which was in a good location near the elevators except that it was a little noisy. But you know what, we were so dead tired from all the stuff we did during the day that it did not interfere with sleep because as soon as we hit the pillows we were ZONKED out!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sorry, I'm new to this... what are the "wavebands" you're talking about? We're in 2122 & 2124, only connecting cat 9 room we could get at time of booking. Should I be worried since I have two young kids? Thanks.

Hi Daisy,
The same thing happened to my family last Novemeber. We were in rm. 2002, which Dave had listed as a "noisy" room. I was worried, as my dh is a light sleeper. It wound up not bothering me at all, and he quickly got used to. The split bath and the port hole are really worth the little extra noise. Enjoy!

We were under Rockin Bar D once, a long time ago. We could definitely hear the bass in our stateroom. But we don't have kids and tend to stay out late, so by the time we got back to our stateroom each night, we were pretty well exhausted. Hubby could sleep through a hurricane...the noise would keep me up briefly, but then exhaustion would take over and I slept like a baby the rest of the night.

Wavebands on the Wonder, and Rockin Bar D on the Magic are the ships main nightclubs. they have activities in these clubs like theme nights that run until 12:00 midnight...then they have a D.J. that plays until about 1:00 or 2:00 am.
