Once again DVC is dangling the bait.... for a purchase of 160 points receive a free 3 night cruise on the Dream for family of 4.

I think that somebody is watching me surf the net... they know I want to go on the Dream.....and I dream of being a DVC member.

I love Disney and drop serious $$$ when I come to play but for some reason DH doesnt think DVC is a good idea..... :confused3 maybe a need a new DH- one with the Disney magic inside- JK.

So this is the delima....
The email offer needs a response by April 17
We leave on our first Disney Cruise April 22 (its a suprise for the family- not even DH knows where we are going)

Should I call and inquire about how much points are if I purchase by April 17 via the email offer or...

go to the DVC presentation on the ship and see what they have to offer?

I am already planning to book a Dream cruise while on board but if I could sell DH on the fantablous world of DVC and get some perks well..:woohoo:

DH really likes Disney once he gets there, maybe not so much all Disney all the time but he likes Disney service.... Even though some people complain that Disney service is going down, not what it used to be, it is still top in the industry I think. And they must be doing something right because other companies , like ours, are modeling their business structrue like Disney.

So Points now or DVC demo on the boat?

So Points now or DVC demo on the boat?--I would check with DH and make sure he is on board.

I would also suggest that you look into resale. The Timeshare Store, Inc.® specializes in DVC and continuously receives new listings. You can email us at sales@dvcstore.com and we can add you to our distribution list so when new listings become available you will be notified. Simply provide your first and last name.

Best of luck to you.

Jason

remember that 160 points PLUS the cruise will not qualify you for any discounts... so you are looking at 112 to 120 per point. Make sure that DH is on board before you spend $17,000+

I would opt for this choice, and bring your DH with you. You can usually get better incentives while on the ship *and* your DH will probably be lovin' all things Disney at that point (because the cruises are so awesome) and will be easier to convince that DVC is a great decision! Good luck! :goodvibes

I realize that I need DH to be on board. ( in theory anyway LOL!) I wasnt really looking for "marital" or "financial" advice but where you all thought I could find the better deal.

I have also looked into DVC resale mostly because the resort I would prefer to be my home resort is the Beach Club. Saratoga and Animal Kingdom just dont appeal to me. Bay Lake has great location but for some reason just doesnt reach out and grab me either. But Beach Club beckons me to come home.

Pass on the cruise and take the $ cash discount on the points. You can rent your points for $10 each, pay cash for the cruise, and still have money left over.

I was given the same offer I believe - a Disney Cruise aboard the Dream (the nights depended on how many points you purchased) or $$ off the price. I was going for 200 points at AKL and would save $3,000 plus they offered double the points for the first year only as a March special offer.

I wish I had the $$ for the down payment - I just paid my DVC guy the down payment for points we rented for our trip in Nov/December 2010 and I feel know that I could have used that money towards the downpay for DVC ownership and get so much more for our money but I am very happy with him and that we got Boardwalk view so I don't want him to think I'm complaining at all! Just wish I had an extra $1800 laying around :rotfl2:

Maybe I'll win the Powerball this week? :confused3

I would say that if Beach Club calls to you, that is where I would buy. The price for this resort, going resale, is going to beat anything you are offered either via Disney and the cruise. While you can purchase this resort from them (especially if you insist), they just raised the price to $115/ppt (I believe).

DVC is a big investment and owning where you love, IMO, is very important and worth what it costs to own there. We bought BLT, even though it cost us about $5000 more than it would have to do SSR. Even if Disney had offered the same incentives as I could have gotten resale, I still would have gone with BLT because that is where I want to be and do not want to have to wait until 7 months out to get it.

Good luck!!!
