UPDATE: After being told I had the 40% code, the nice CM I originally spoke with gave me a complete package price including the discount on the room. He told me all the dates that applied and told me I had until March to book. Since our original dates weren't available, I told him I would call back.

So about an hour later I call back and was told there was NO code, just the 3 letter code which also needed the 13 digit PIN to use it. I was a little mad at this point since then previous CM had told me I had the code and even gave me a complete package price. All she could say was that I was given wrong information and she wasn't sure why the original CM told me I had a code. Needless to say, I'm a little bit mad and disappointed.

I just got off the phone with a nice CM who told me I had a 40% off pincode! :cool1: I said we want to book a trip for the Fall but I think maybe I deleted my discount email and asked nicely if he could check. It was sort of an un-Disney-like white lie, but it paid off!

Anyway, he gave me two 3-letter codes, one for room only and one for a package. Both have to be booked by March. So my question is...if we book a room only now with the 40% discount, can I add dining/tickets at a later time? Does it have to be done before March or can I make it a package anytime?

Thanks!

I believe you have to make it a package from the beginning. I think if you book room only and later want to add dining, you have to cancel and make a whole new reservation. Why not call and ask, though, to be sure?

I originally booked the military 40% off with no dining since we usually just do counter services, but then DH and I were talking about all the restaurants we never did and figured this would be a good time to do some of them. So then I realized we ought to sign up for the dining plan. When I called to add it, the CM had to make a whole new reservation. She didn't cancel the old one until we were sure the new one could be booked, and it was with no problem. But she did charge my credit card the entire amount and said that she couldn't just transfer the funds already paid to the first reservation (I had paid the entire thing even though it was just a room-only reservation). So the original money will eventually be put back as a refund on my credit card, but at the moment, it looks like I'm paying twice for the same trip. LOL! Anyway, that's my experience. I recommend booking everything you know you want as soon as you know you want it. If you know you want dining and tickets now, I'd book that just to make sure you get it. Good luck!

I am so sorry for you. I can imagine how frustrating it must be. This exact same thing almost happened to me but luckily, I had booked the package and put down the deposit.

I called last week and was told there was a code attached to my SIL but that since we were part of her household, I could use it, even though she wasn't going (this is the 2nd CM that told me codes go with the address not the person, which I know is not true).

Anyway, we booked the package and I was so excited. I had previously booked a package through my AAA travel agent. When I called her the next day to cancel that pacakge because I had gotten such a great deal directly from Disney, she asked if she could get it transferred to her so they could still oversee it. I didn't care, as long as I was paying the same thing.

Well...when she called to do it, they told her that I was given the discount by mistake but since they had already taken my deposit and billed my credit card, they would let me keep it. THANK GOD! since it was over a $1000 savings.

I think it goes to show that different CM's have a way to get around pin codes and names and depending on who you get, you can get lucky!

I'm confused. I have a 40%off pin code. I want to book for the end of November but my DBF isn't sure if we should do it or not since we are expecting our first child in March. He told me it was ok if I just checked it out to see what kind of price we would get with the code. So, if I call and price it out with the 40% off for the room only ( i am getting tickets through my work's corporate perk site ) does that mean that if I don't book the ressie on that phone call with that CM i'll lose my PIN? I can't call back later when we are postively sureand use the PIN then? My other dilemma is that I might want dining ( not sure yet ) but since I am getting a better deal on tickets through my work I wouldn't be able to book the dining on my room reservation. I am unable to book dining through my work though. If we decide on the dining plan, can I add the dining to the ticket when we arrive to WDW instead? Gah!

I suggest that you call and just tell a CM this -- don't give your code or your name, just say you have one and maybe why you have one (like if it's the military 40% off, or whatever) because then they will be able to tell you for sure if you'd lose it if you don't book. I am almost 100% positive that you have to add the dining before you arrive at WDW. The dining is associated with your resort stay, not your park tickets. In other words, if you are there for 7 nights, you will get the dining for 7 nights, but you'd only have to get a one-day ticket (with a package, I think you have to get at least one-day base ticket). However, I am not sure that you can add dining to a discount code after booking without having to re-book altogether. So call up and ask those questions so you can make a better decision. Wish I knew more, but I think it's best to get it from the horses' mouth than chance that advice on here might be wrong. Also, get the name of the CM you talk to so you have it if you need it. Good luck!

I would suggest calling back and asking for a supervisor and tell them what happend...but honestly, the next CM you talk to, may also "see" the code. I have found each CM I talk to has a different answer or way of approaching things... I was given a code as pixie dust and I knew if I didn't book something, had I called back, the next CM i talked to would have a different approach... I put it on a 1 week courtesy hold and decided within that week, where I wanted to go... then I wasn't out the money and I got the deal I was offered...

You CAN book a whole package, even with a room only pin. You just don't get the discount on the tickets or dining. Also, what I did was I got the whole pin, including the numbers from the CM I spoke with. Then I called my TA.

can I add dining/tickets at a later time?

You won't really be adding dining and tickets to a room only. A room only is a room only.

A package includes room, dining and tickets and is through WDTC. Room only is not WDTC. That's why it is not just a matter of adding on a dining plan and tickets to a room res.

Sometimes the cancellation of a Room Only and booking a package instead is an easy transition. Depends on what you expect and the availability, not to mention other variables.

A room only one night deposit cannot be transferred onto a package.

There would be two difference codes mentioned here -- one for room only, one for a package. It's basically if there is a conversion/alternative code that matches the one you already have.

I am so glad I read this!!! I had a room only booked with a code. I was just going to call in a couple months to add tickets and dining plan. After reading what you said, I just called to add tickets and the DDP. The CM did have to cancel my room only reservation. I even got a new reservation number. You are right that they don't transfer the one night deposit. They refunded my room deposit. I had to pay the $200 deposit for a package. I am so glad I did this now instead of waiting!!

You can reuse the Pin Code several times. When I originally booked I asked CM "If something happens can I cancel and book another time using the Pin Code" He said yes. And I know several people on he that booked more than 1trip using the code. As PP said DDP is hooked to room stay and you have to make those arragements before you arrive. I think at least a week before.
