Got a call from RPR regarding recent stay

We were there at the end of July at the same time as an unruly group (the infamous orange backpackers for those who were there at the same time) and I had written them a letter explaining what happened on our floor ~ as well as telling them what went right I didn't expect anything nor did I ask for anything for the inconvenience.

The gentleman (I can't remember his name as I was in the middle of something at the time) who called was very gracious, took full responsibility for not controlling these kids, told me I was not the only one complaining, and apologized several times.

He then said he was sending me a certificate for a free night's stay and insisted after I told him I didn't want anything (the vacation is over and done with) but he insisted. I did thank him several times and let him know I appreciated his efforts in maintaining me as a customer of RPR.

All I really wanted was someone to acknowledge the problem so it doesn't happen again and they went beyond that

Looks like we'll be heading back

Wish we could've met up w/you while we were there! The backpacks were everywhere for five nights of our stay too! I believe the man's name is Eric-front desk mgr.? I had written an email right after we got home. We've been in contact w/him over several things (see other posts). Still working on a couple of things as of last night. He is very nice person and made me feel better about all that had happened. He did say that no group like that would ever be ok'd again.

btw, dd just moved VA Beach (working in Norfolk) so we might be getting to know your "home" area a little too....probably even looked at apts in that area....goodness knows, we looked everywhere! lol

We were there at the same time as the orange backpackers as well, but we never saw them. We were eating lunch one day near the convention center and they were everywhere, though.

zaxmom ~ you're so lucky our floor was a free-for-all.

Eclpz314 ~ congratulations to your DD This is a great area to live and work so I'm sure she'll do great!!! I think that if the orange backpackers actually had enough chaperones, everything would have been fine. I do know that when we go again, I will ask about large groups staying there I hope you get all your problems with RPR worked out to your satisfaction!

I wouldn't want that man's job! Can you imagine dealing with the fallout from the backpackers and THEN having a hurricane come through and shut everything down? Wonder where he goes on vacation? lol We were there in July of last year too and there was the Scholastic Book convent. for 3 nights of our stay. Not nearly as many, but totally different because they just took up the whole pool area partying at night! We had rented #1 cabana for a day, and that night and a bunch of them got in the hot tub right in front. They kept loudly commenting about why someone would sit in a thing like that and watch t.v. (all the while craning their necks to see our t.v. screen. Soooo, we shut the canvas on the front facing the hot tub and opened it from the back! That convention had also left drink glasses all through the walkway bushes and on the water taxis.....and to think how much I used to spend on bookfairs when my kids were younger! Guess that kind of stuff is going to happen when we stay at a convention hotel, but it's nice to talk to an actual person there who cares.

We were at the RPR from 16 July - 18 July... were they there then? We were in Tower 2 one the first floor...

No, we were there from july 18-28 and they were there for the last 5 days of it.

We were there from July 25-29. A bunch checked out on the 28th so we got 1 night's sleep whle we were there
