I have been lurking on here reading all about PIN's and promo's. I am getting married in mid October and we are flying down to the mouse the day after the wedding. Our honeymoon is past the 10/02/10 cutoff date for the 40% discount for deluxe resorts.
But I figured it wouldn't hurt to call reservations and talk to a CM to see if I could get a discount. I called an explained my situation (the honeymoon), and how we were going to be at the parks regardless of where we stayed, however I would love to stay at the WDW Resort instead of offsite. She told me that no discounts were attached to my disney account (which I registered a couple of weeks ago, no PIN's sent to me yet). For about 10 minutes we went back and forth and I was pretty much about ready to call it quits and try again tomorrow on the phone....when at the last minute when she could tell I was going to hang up...she said "well let me put you on hold and see what I can do".
I told her up front that I was prepared to reserve the room right now, and that I knew exactly what room I wanted and where...but I wouldn't do it for less than 40% off because I told her it's the only way we could afford a 5-day stay at a deluxe resort in a honeymoon suite. She came back and told me she could offer me the 40% off, as long as I purchased at least 1-day's worth of park tickets. I told her that's fine, and to actually put me down for 4 days of admission tickets (Magic Your Way Package).
I ended up saving $1800 with a phone call, absolutely no PIN or discount attached to my "account" which I just opened, and I have never stayed at a disney resort, have no AP, and no affiliations with any other discount offer (DVC, Disney Chase, AAA, etc).
The long and skinny is that we are staying for 5 days in mid-October at the Grand Floridian Honeymoon Suite (Deluxe King) Club Level, with a 40% room discount.
Just wanted to let others out there know that are waiting for a PIN....a little persistence on the phone can pay off. It was reminiscent of walking off a car lot, when the salesmen at the last minute offers the deal

Hope you have a most magical honeymoon and many happy years together,
Before she put me on hold, during the back and forth thing for about 10 minutes when I didn't think I was going to make anymore headway...I was telling her that I can't see paying full rack prices for a room that the person a week before me got for hundreds less per night. I also told her that they have mailed out a lot of the pins to folks who will not use them at all, and that she has someone on the phone right now who will book the room that day. So maybe it was a combination of everything...who knows?

, that was swell!! Enjoy!
