I have been lurking on here reading all about PIN's and promo's. I am getting married in mid October and we are flying down to the mouse the day after the wedding. Our honeymoon is past the 10/02/10 cutoff date for the 40% discount for deluxe resorts.

But I figured it wouldn't hurt to call reservations and talk to a CM to see if I could get a discount. I called an explained my situation (the honeymoon), and how we were going to be at the parks regardless of where we stayed, however I would love to stay at the WDW Resort instead of offsite. She told me that no discounts were attached to my disney account (which I registered a couple of weeks ago, no PIN's sent to me yet). For about 10 minutes we went back and forth and I was pretty much about ready to call it quits and try again tomorrow on the phone....when at the last minute when she could tell I was going to hang up...she said "well let me put you on hold and see what I can do".

I told her up front that I was prepared to reserve the room right now, and that I knew exactly what room I wanted and where...but I wouldn't do it for less than 40% off because I told her it's the only way we could afford a 5-day stay at a deluxe resort in a honeymoon suite. She came back and told me she could offer me the 40% off, as long as I purchased at least 1-day's worth of park tickets. I told her that's fine, and to actually put me down for 4 days of admission tickets (Magic Your Way Package).

I ended up saving $1800 with a phone call, absolutely no PIN or discount attached to my "account" which I just opened, and I have never stayed at a disney resort, have no AP, and no affiliations with any other discount offer (DVC, Disney Chase, AAA, etc).

The long and skinny is that we are staying for 5 days in mid-October at the Grand Floridian Honeymoon Suite (Deluxe King) Club Level, with a 40% room discount.

Just wanted to let others out there know that are waiting for a PIN....a little persistence on the phone can pay off. It was reminiscent of walking off a car lot, when the salesmen at the last minute offers the deal :dance3:

WOW Thats great!!! :thumbsup2 Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Sounds like its going to be a wonderful honeymoon!!! Have fun and I will be patiently waiting for a trip report in October!!!!!!

Congrats on both the booking and the wedding!! :goodvibes

Now, I wonder if I can apply your tactic since DH is coming back from Afghanistan Oct 6.... (obviously right after all the military and general public discounts expire!)

Congratulations! I'm so glad the CM you spoke to was able to use some discretion and give you the offer for your honeymoon. I can't think of a more romantic honeymoon either- GF, honeymoon suite, concierge...wow.---Kathy

Thank you for sharing your great story!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon as well!! That is so exciting! SO glad you were able to get the offer. I think it's extremely smart on Disney's part to offer that to you, especially since you booked basically one of THE best rooms on property, and I guarantee you'll be hooked on Disney after your honeymoon (or Disneymoon as we like to call it!), and you'll be back! Who knows, you may want to try a new resort, or you may be hooked on the Grand and Royal Palm Club (the club level you booked). We are actually staying in the same kind of room (not honeymoon suite though) for my DH's birthday in November! We got a 40% off pin and were able to book with that, otherwise we could never afford a stay like that. I wish you the best of luck in your marriage and future!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Yes, give it a try. If anyone deserves a break it's our soldiers!

To the OP! Congrats on the wedding and the great discount. You will love the GF! It is beautiful and romantic!

Yea for you!:cheer2: Hope you have a most magical honeymoon and many happy years together,

Thanks all for the well wishes

I'm not sure if it was because I mentioned our honeymoon, or that I was just firm with not paying rack prices for the room :confused3 Before she put me on hold, during the back and forth thing for about 10 minutes when I didn't think I was going to make anymore headway...I was telling her that I can't see paying full rack prices for a room that the person a week before me got for hundreds less per night. I also told her that they have mailed out a lot of the pins to folks who will not use them at all, and that she has someone on the phone right now who will book the room that day. So maybe it was a combination of everything...who knows?

Truthfully in the end I would have paid rack prices, however it would have been for probably a standard room on club level, and not the honeymoon suite. I already considered staying offsite, however being from the Orlando area I really didn't desire to rent a car and drive around O-town, dealing with traffic, and having to drive to the parks each day.

I just wanted to add, that the CM eluded to me that even though marketing is behind the promos and whatnot for the discounts and that they (the reservation team) doesn't necessarily know what the next discounts will be...she anticipates that whatever deals/packages/discounts that will apply for the remainder of October and into November should be publicized in June ....for what it's worth

Thanks again for all of the kind words, we are really looking forward to the trip

Congratulations!!! I hope that your wedding is wonderful, and that you enjoy the GF to the max! And good for you for getting that discount!! :thumbsup2

Great news!! I'm hoping for 40% off deluxe for our trip in January, so I'll have to wait sometime for that, but I may try your tactic as well.

Enjoy!!

So true story here....I just got a 20/30/40 email in my Inbox from Disney....

After signing up on their site 2 weeks ago, and doing about everything I could think of to get the discount email (create an itinerary, sign up for a Disney Chase Visa, complete their popup survey, etc)...I guess it paid off.

Since my current offer of 40% off is contingent upon buying park tickets, I may just call to have the reservation modified utilizing this PIN so that the ticket contention is not part of it. My uncle works for disney in one of the theater productions and can get us free park passes, so that will save some $$

Just thought it was worth sharing that even after calling and haggling to get the 40% off over the phone with no PIN's at all...I ended up getting one in my email anyway, only after 2 weeks of registration!

Dates are through December (excluding holiday dates)....same as most people on here are getting with the 20/30/40.

I wish luck to everyone else waiting for their PIN....if a call to a CM doesn't work for you. :wizard:
