hi all
i have heard on another site that the gourmet pantry in dtd is closing to make way for a sandwhich bar my kids loved going in there to get their sweets and i loved the fudge and cakes
is this true??

Yes it is true, my mom's neighbor worked there , had to transfer to the World of Disney store, since the person who is leasing the location will be hiring his own staff, btw he's English.

We are going in Oct. Maybe we can have one more shot to buy something there.

No one's said for sure when closing is. Iheard the new place is going to be called the Earl of Sandwich, or something along those lines. Maybe check the rumors board for more info.

Just did a search on the Restaurants Board and looks like Gourmet Pantry is closing on June 22. No word on when the Earl of Sandwich is going to open.

One section of the Gourmet Pantry will be closed off from the Earl of Sandwich and they will continue to sell the candy and some other food stuffs there. I got this from the lady who sold me fudge about a week before they closed. The candy counter will be located where they used to sell the glassware and dishes. That will be walled off from the EoS.

That would be great news--I hope that they still sell those fabulous cookies there--they were my favorite WDW treat!

I was there July 4th. The candy shop has opened and it does have the cookies. It does not have the selection of pastries the old store has, but all of the fudge and candy appears to be in tact. I was pleased with the cookies because they are hard to find!

EOS will be the flagship outlet for a proposed international chain that will be a joint venture between Planet Hollywood and the 11th Earl of Sandwich (He runs a delivery-only operation with 2 locations in London).
Sweets will still be available.
GP has been closed for just over 2 weeks.
I think the change-over was originally estimated at around a month-long.
