We just bought our 1st GoPro Camera and are leaving for Disney World in 8 days. Any advice would be great...

I want to record riding the roller coasters for sure, and would like to try the fireworks, along with just walking all around "the world". We got a GoPole Grenade attachment, so I am thinking I will just hand-hold it most of the time.

Setting advice would also be great!

It is the GoPro Hero3+ Black addition, if that helps...

TIA!

I just borrowed one off a buddy and am interested as well! I got it to strap to my head for Black Friday at Walmart LOL!!!!!

I am getting DH one for Christmas. There is a thread over on cruisecritic that you may want to join. I don't know anything about them...yet :) I have been visiting that thread frequently:thumbsup2

Go on Youtube and search How to make a time lapse with a Gopro. Lots of videos!!!! Some easier to understand than others. But that should keep you busy :thumbsup2

Glad to hear you are using the GoPole. The footage would be very shaky if you were to hand hold it naked. Attaching it to larger objects makes it more stable. They also make a chest harness. That might be good for roller coasters, so you can enjoy the ride and not worry about dropping it, while the footage becomes more stable.

Don't forget you can connect your phone to the GoPro and use it as a monitor.

For fireworks, it may be neat to shoot from behind the castle. The fireworks actually come from two different locations. One set right next to the castle and the other outside of the park, way behind the Cinderella's castle past Beast's castle. The ultra wide angle of the GoPro may give a unique perspective as the fireworks surround you. Plus, there's less people back there.
Here is how it looks from back there: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=48604097&posted=1#post48604097

With an ultra wide angle lens, you usually want to be up close. But, be careful if you want to shoot the fireworks from in front of the castle, in the hub. If you get too close, the castle will block some of the burst. Also, the hub will be the most crowded place for fireworks. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=48806817&posted=1#post48806817

Those photographs were amazing! :flower3: Thank you for sharing, I hadn't thought of not being in front of the castle. We will be going to MVMCP as well, I hope I have the hang of it by then... :upsidedow

I would suggest a chest strap for Roller Coaster videos. The file sizes tend to be large so be sure to have extra memory cards. Also battery life with my GoPro 3 was not that good so be sure to bring at least one extra with you.

Here are two that I did on our last trip.

Have fun.

I use my GoPro 3 White mostly for bicycling videos and wanted the best battery life possible. The battery lasts for about 2:30 at best and a 32 GB memory card is good for about 4:30 of 1080 video. I always get OEM batteries for my cameras but in this case I needed an external charger so I went with the Wasabi set of 2 batteries and a charger. So far they have worked ok.
Hopefully this will give you some idea about battery life, also Silver and Black will not last as long as White. Leave the WiFi and ProTune off for longer battery life.
