GoPro camera? Knock-off version??

Does anyone know of a GREAT (we're talking REALLY GOOD lol) deal on a GoPro camera, or if not, a good knock-off version that would't cost as much (but is still decent quality)? We have my BIL in the gift exchange and have been thinking for months on what to get him but this is the only thing we've come up with, and we remembered he said he wanted one last year. But we don't have a ton of money so a regular priced "real" one isn't an option.

the best I could do for GoPro was last year...Sports Authority usually offers a 20% coupon and our carried the GoPro and accessories. I was able to get the GoPro3 Hero (black) for $320-usually $400. Maybe the same would work again this year? Our DS loves his....I hope you can get a deal!

I think i remember seeing one on walmarts black Friday sales paper...$199 Did not pay that much attention as i was not interested.

Overstock is going to have the GoPro3 in White for 179.99 on Black Friday, if you don't want to do the 199.99 with $30 gc from Walmart.

Just wanted to chime in here....

my DS was interested in having a Go-Pro to wear for paintballing and snowboarding. Anyhow, we were at a yard sale this fall and he found a Drift Action camera.... brand new in the box, unused. He talked to the guy a bit and managed to get it for $50. When we got home he discovered a Best Buy gift receipt in the box dated April of this year! The thing was NEW! I don't understand why the original owner didn't return it (unless it was hot ), but anyhow....

the only problem we had was that the battery didn't hold a charge. DS contacted Drift and was totally honest with them (stating that we were NOT the original purchasers and that it had been bought second hand), but they were good enough to honor the warranty and PROMPTLY sent him a new battery (and DH bought one on Amazon as well). He had GREAT FUN wearing it on his helmet to a paintballing tournament and upload the video to his YouTube channel! I think it was well worth the $50.... but I don't really expect that everyone can find that deal! Just wanted to say that we have had good luck and excellent customer service with Drift! .................P

We have a gear pro that my husband uses and he really likes it. You can check them out on amazon. I couldn't spend 200 ob something that would not be used very much.

just so the OP knows, that is the lower end model(white, silver, then black)...so depending on what specs they are after, it may not produce the level videos wanted. Still fun tho. BTW $199 is the norm for that one. I think getting the $40 gift card is nice, since accessories are needed to mount it.
