We're getting a GoPro for our next cruise. We've been looking at the accessory packs on Amazon. Does anybody have a recommendation?

So we didn't order a pack from Amazon, just individual items. Some of the packs had stuff we didn't want and we decided to stick to genuine GoPro accessories. We got a head strap (used to film pirate night fireworks), chest strap and floatie handle for snorkeling. My son has a mount for his bicycle helmet. We did, however purchase an extra battery and needed that. We also have a gorilla pod (LL Bean -on sale) and tripod-which belongs to my DSLR. We have gotten by with all of this easily. Might have cost a bit more, but happy with the quality. We have a Silver Hero 4.

The extra batteries are a must as mentioned.

You'll need a float handle for sure. I have one from Camkix that is great. Has a sealed compartment for cash and works well as everyday handle. Camkix also has a package deal on their site if you want it all together.

Also some antifog inserts are good for tropical climates

And if you don't have an LCD screen on your gopro get the LCD backpack for framing shots better.

Since you didn’t list which model if it is the three or less get the LCD screen, you will be thankful

Kind of off topic but... how are you watching your videos that you have taken with the gopro on your tv? I have the hero+lcd and from what I have read there is no way to plug a cable into that model and go straight to your tv.... I have taken the memory card out and tried putting the card in a memory card reader and plugging that into the tv but no luck..

Definitely get the LCD screen, but do yourself a favor and get at least 2 extra batteries. The screen comes in handy, but sucks your batteries dry! We get the wasabi power ones and I think they work better than the gopro branded ones. Also, if you do get the LCD screen, make sure you have a waterproof housing that fits. It adds depth to your camera and you'll need a separate housing for it.

Personally I edit my videos first, upload to youtube, then watch YouTube on my TV through the smart tv or blueray player that is conected to my wireless router.

Again a little off topic but how do you edit? Also, did you all take more than one SD card with you?

I use Microsoft Movie Maker because its free and easy to use. Ive never had much success with gopros editing software suite, movie maker is much easier. You can cut and arrange clips, make titles etc... As long as you empty it before the trip one memory card is fine (class 10 I believe). I just started to play and figured it out. I'm a total newbie at it but here you go...

I really like being able to see what I'm recording but... I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a removable battery and that I cannot plug a cable into the camera and watch on my tv..

All the reviews I am reading, the non removable battery and the fact that the camera is fused into the housing are the number one complaints. I just don't think I can get the camera without an lcd screen. I'm a visual person and want to see what I am recording and see the photos I am taking to make sure I'm not cutting off peoples heads, etc. Thanks for your reply Yensid29!
