Gooooooooooooo Clay---SPOILER!!!!

I'm actually in tears. :( But alas..........congratulations to Ruben and all the Ruben fans out there. I just can't watch anymore of tonight's show.

I can't believe the voting was that close - only 1,300 votes between the two??!!?? Something sounds fishy to me. I tried calling for Clay for 3 hours and could never get through, and I've heard others say the same. Not that I don't like Ruben's voice, but I just think he's more R&B and not as versatile as Clay.

Did anyone have trouble getting through to vote for Ruben? Just wondering.

Congratulations to Ruben! I'm sure Clay will do very well in the future so I don't feel too bad for him tonight ;) .

I'm disaapointed, but while Ruben won the show I think Clay has the better long term future.

Congratulations to both of them for giving it their all. Wishing them both all the best in their careers!

Yes, those in B'ham were also complaining of being unable to get through to vote.

I certainly believe the outcome is legit... the media locally has been going non-stop... one of our local weathermen was actually wearing a "GO RUBEN" sticker on his back last night during the forecast. And it's flooding here so there was a lot more going on. There are billboards, stickers, everywhere you go. Our Governor even ran a commercial for him! That's how he won... the entire city of B'ham was behind him :)

I think both of them are winners!!!!! They each have a lot of talent and were going to be the lucky ones to be able to listen to them.

GO RUBEN!!!!!!

I'm so glad that one of those many votes for Ruben was mine!!!

:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc YES YES YEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!

RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUBEN STUDDARD!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I know now I WASN'T ALONE!!!!

Disappointed- I think the wrong person won - but congrats to Ruben .

1300 votes - maybe next time they should limit (by incoming ohone number) each person to 1 call - this way everyone could get through. I know 3 people who voted continuously for 3 hours for Clay and never got through -

Not that's it's not legit - but maybe they need to look at how they vote for the next one.

Anyway, it's still be a lot of fun - and I think many of these kids (!!) have great careers ahead of them.

I'm not going to see AI in Pittsurgh now. I'm so diappointed. Anyone wanna buy my tix? Floor section 2, row 14. :)

I tried to get through to vote for Ruben, but the lines were jammed.
He did not need my vote after all!

While I like them both, (JMO) we already have a Barry Manilow.
That is who Clay reminds me of, I like him, but actually Ruben is more versatile.

It seems as if Clay was really best on the Manilow kind of tunes.

Good luck to them both.

It was really interesting to see Kelly get her platinum (?) record tonight. She seemed quite surprised!

I'm also almost in tears, I feel like such a weirdo that I'm so upset, but I really felt like Clay had everything, the voice, the personality, etc. Ruben can sing, but he bores me. Oh well, I'll be buying Clay's CD the day it comes out!

I am so dissapointed! Ruben doesn't have half the talent that CLay does. Ruben can sing, but my goodness he'll probably have a heart attack before he can serve out his year. American Idol of 2003--I think not. Clay even has class when he accepted his loss. Forever I will think of Clay as my American Idol.

I was torn between Clay and Ruben, both of them are excellent and different in style. You really can't label either of them "pop", but that's not what the contest was about. Both of them will do well and both will have an album out, so really neither of them is a loser. Clay really blew me away with Bridge Over Troubled Water, but I loved Ruben singing Flying Without Wings. By the way, did anyone else notice how handsome Ruben looked in his suit tonight?

Ruben should not have won the competition. Even tonight his voice was going after just a few songs. Also I can't see him touring when singing a few songs winds him.....

Clay was all around a better performer. Unfortunately for him, the show appears to have been a popularity contest this time around.

What a disappointment for my whole family...my DD (7) was almost in tears...

Oh well, it was SO close that, IMHO, it was practically a tie. I believe Clay has a VERY bright future regardless but I don't think Ruben has the same stay power...time will tell.

I would absolutely buy a Clay CD but not Ruben...he bores me to tears. Boo hoo...

Clay has much more versatility than Ruben has. Ruben sings every song the same, vs. Clay makes the song his own. Oh well, either way Clay has a HUGE career coming his way.

Even though I wanted Clay to win, I figured Rueben would. Oh well, good luck to both.

I am ticked, This contest was not fair I know way to many people whose vote did not count. I sent an email about this sham of a show. I have a neilson box and will never again watch a show that doesn't take voting seriously. And if it really was that close in an election you would have a re-count.
Something is very wrong. I will not be giving AI or AI junior my neilson box ratings.

I couldn't get A vote in for Ruben last night and I tried constantly from 9pm to midnight. People were VOTING for him!!

Go Ruben!!!! I'LL buy your CD!! :p
