I got myself - twice. The first was my name on the website of the company I work for and the second was my sister's wedding website.

I feel so common! I've never met anyone with my maiden name or my married name, but there sure are tons of them. My first name and the name I go by are relatively common so I wasn't surprised there, but weird to see so many with the same last name! I read through the first several pages of each and none of them were me.

A side note to the original thread... I can't believe how much more information there is on line than even a year ago.

My father's side of the family were brewers from Germany, circa 1860, and I was always able to find a few articles about their beer. Now I can find so much more! It's really cool to be able to read about relatives I never got to meet and what they were doing over 100 years ago.

How do you search for your name. I put in my name but it comes up with my first name with another last name and then my last name with someone else's first name in the same paragraph.

When I google my full name, I come up with nothing. The only people in the country with my last name are related to my ex-husband (I still have my married name). However, there are lots of people on Guam and in the Philippines with my last name. No one with my first and last names together though.

When I google my maiden name, I still come up with nothing. It's a fairly common Italian surname, but none paired up with my first name.

My name came up first, and then a bunch of entries with my first or last name, but not mine. I guess I am unique. I was surprised how many people have the same first name as mine. One person I ran accross was my 8th grade English teacher's daughter - named after me, of course.

Do you put your first, middle, and last name? I'm having the same results that PaulaSue mentioned. I just keep getting my name in bits and pieces. I have 3 pretty common names, so it came up a lot separated, but not all as one full name I don't think (I didn't want to search 11 pages.)

My boyfriend's name is much less common and his comes up with mostly stuff about himself

My husband did our last name and what he found was very haunting for me. Apparently, one of my first grade student's parents was writing on a community board similar to this one. She used my last name (which is uncommon) and the name of the school where I teach at. Anyway, she had some not so nice things to say about me because I recommended some testing for her child. Needless to say I felt very vilolated. I immediately contacted our school lawyer who then contacted her and and threathen to sue her for slander. She did stop using my name and writing about the situation. I took it one step further and contacted the websites that she was writing under and informed them of what was happening.

What she was saying about me didn't bother me as much as all the relies she received from other people.

When I google the name on my drivers license, it's 12 hits, all me.

If I use the name that everyone else seems to use (they ignore the first part of my hyphen ), there aren't any hits. If I use just my maiden name, 487!

My sister has a very common first name that gets paired with our last name. In our hometown, there were four girls with the exact same name, so it's no surprise that when I google her name, there are 4500 hits!
