Google Home mini

i will be traveling by air via SW this Christmas & Bought my son a google home mini & will have it in my carry on. Since it is a gift the package will be unopened. Will i have to open it and take it out of the package to get thru security at the airport? I know a lot of electronics rules have changed since last time I flew. I know I have to take iPad out of case, which I never had to do before. Thanks for any info

Anybody know?? Just wondering if I should return the one I bought and then buy another when I get to my destination. Don’t want the package opened when I am gifting it
