Ok this may have been posted along time ago, but my husband was looking at Google Earth and behind EE at AK there is a lot of dirt moved. It said Staging Area for EE, is that what it is? So close to the Safari - he wondered if they were building something - obviously not a ride - Just curious

The images can be a few years out of date, and often the placemarks can be some distance off.

I don't know specifically what that area is/was, but I doubt it was for Everest specifically. There appears to be a small water treatment plant at the southern end.

I think it would be possible for them to extend the back end of the Maharaja Jungle Trek to put something back there, but it is more likely just being modified for "backstage" uses.

Hey Allison, I seem to recall you posting last year about driving to Florida for your wedding and being worried about safekeeping all the stuff you were going to have in your car. How did your trip go?

The new Western Way entrance road into Disney was being constructed about 2 years ago and it's behind EE. The road runs generally east-west and is a couple miles long connecting BVD and the TOLL 429 expressway. Was it a road he saw?

We must have used the same directiond from Mapquest and boy did it save a LOT of time. We were a little unseure of where we were at the time, but once we figured it out, we vowed never to take any other route to Disney World!

See ya'll in December!

Hello there Kingbobofthenorth - no it actually was not a rode it was just an area behind EE and it was just some dirt moved. Just wondering.

The drive went great everything got down there safely...the quite Ironicly funny thing was that my Flowers for my mad hatter tea party were not returned to the Disney Event Group after my event and they were either tossed or swiped by employees. I got 1 arrangement back, so after all of that fretting and worrying about getting everything down there safely, I got it there and it got taken after I got there....at least it happened AFTER we used them. Thanks for asking!

The Western Way is visible in Google Earth, and it really isn't right behind Everest.

I believe the area talked about is a large cleared area that MIGHT be visible from the train to the Conservation Station, through the trees, but they were probably pretty careful not not allow it to be visible. It will probably remain a "backstage" area and not any guest-accessible area, unless as I mentioned they extend off the back of the Jungle Trek.

There have been no news or rumors to indicate any particular development at Animal Kingdom.

I think what you saw on Google Earth might have been the construction site for the Yak & Yeti resturant.
