With Plaza Inn on the refurb list during our upcoming visit, we need to pick a different character breakfast. (We've done storytellers several times, and my son poopooed Ariel's). So which would you choose, and more importantly, WHY would you choose it? TIA!

We chose Surf's up. Mainly because there are more characters at Surf's up my boys would enjoy to see. They love Goofy, but that was all at Goof's Kitchen.

Hope that helps,
Jenn

I haven't eaten at Surf's Up yet (we're going in June) but we thought Goofy's was great--10 times better than Minnie's at Plaza Inn! The food at Goofy's was 100 times better, but I know the cost of the meal isn't for quality food but character interaction. Still, we met 8 characters at Minnie's and 8 at Goofy's, and it wasn't just the better food that made us like Goofy's more. I think it was the atmosphere. It just felt more orderly and relaxed at Goofy's, compared to the chaos and disarray at Minnie's.

At Goofy's, we met Aurora, Chip, Dale, Baloo, Pluto, Princess Mulan, and Rafiki. At Minnie's, we met Chip, Dale, Minnie, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Fairy Godmother, and Captain Hook.

There's a Character Meal super thread with folks' reviews. My review of Goofy's is on there:

Surf's Up.

My main qualifier is the freshly-made huevos rancheros at SU. Delicious. He cracked the eggs right into the pan. Beautiful.

The omelet stations ladle up the eggs from a container of what I hope is plain old cracked eggs, but who knows. The scrambled eggs are from some food service company and they boil them in a huge bag and that's the scrambled eggs. So to have eggs cracked in a pan...ahhhh.

And I love huevos rancheros. :)

The place is bright and airy and you can see the characters so you can judge when they'll be to you, and the foods are good...they win.

I've done Goofy's twice now and both times have been in a funky corner-y sort of booth that makes it hard for the character-lovers to get up and take pictures, and the food wasn't anywhere near as good (I personally disliked the mac&cheese pizza that DH and DS liked) and they didn't have the huevos rancheros.

If your son likes Mickey, Surf's Up is the only character dining where Mickey is guaranteed to make an appearance. I think you take a picture with him before you get seated.

HTH,

We really enjoyed Surf's Up on our last trip! I've never been to Goofy's, so I can't compare, but we liked Surf's Up a lot.

Everyone in our party thought the food was good. My DD loved the Minnie pancakes and Mickey waffles. I liked the chillaques (or however you spell it)--different and good. Breakfast meats were all good. Mom and brother enjoyed their omelets. Plenty of variety and quantity for everyone, and they kept things refreshed.

Character interaction was wonderful. I know we went during the off season, but the place seemed nearly empty, and the characters spent a lot of time at each table.

It was a great start to our first day in the parks, for sure!

We were just there 2 weeks ago we got pictures of Stitch, Mickey in his lifeguard uniform, Minnie, Daisy and Pluto. The food was okay but the interaction with the characters is the real reason you pay the price.

I have never had breakfast at Goofy's , only dinner. It was fine. The goofy our first time was super. The goofy our second time was rather subdued. We have had Surf's up for breakfast once. It was super. Food was good. Character picture was with Mickey. So much better than Minnie's breakfast. Next Christmas we are doing Storytellers for sure. Everything we have eaten at storytellers has ben delicious and we would like to meet the characters.

We did Goofy's a year ago and enjoyed it.

Debating on doing Surf's Up this trip in May. Does anyone know the last seating time where we will still have time with the characters? We like to do it more for lunch, but don't want the characters to be all on the way out by then.

We have been to both Surf's Up and Goofy's. We prefer Surf's Up because my DD loves Stitch and we like the set up more than Goofy's. The last time we were at Goofy's, we were in a booth and it was hard to get in and out to take photos with the characters.

We enjoyed Surfs Up. Waaaaaayyyyyy more than Minnie's where we waited 45 min before asking when the characters would come outside. Then we did see 4-5 in the next 20 minutes or so, but people from inside started sending their kids out to see the characters and they were mobbing them between tables. Surfs Up was much more relaxed and orderly.

I would choose Goofy's for food but I would choose Surf's up for atmosphere and character interaction. Surf's up it AWESOME!!!! I think the interaction there outways the food you get at Goofy's so if I HAD to chose just one it would be surfs up.

Im on the other side of the fence, I would choose goofys hands down, we were very disappointed in surfs up the one time we decided to try something new, since then we went straight back to goofys and am never leaving again :):yay:

We did Surf's Up on our last trip and LOVED it. The food was good, there were a lot of characters and the whole thing was just fun.

This upcoming trip we are doing Goofys for a couple reasons. First, I wanted to do it on our arrival day for dinner, and second its sort of a anniversary gift to my Goofy loving husband. I read so much good stuff about it until I booked. Now I'm starting to read bad review and it has me worried.

I've never had dinner at Goofy's but have only had brunch but it is heaps of fun and there is heaps of characters. Don't worry seagodess, you'll have loads of fun.

We are having goofys breakfast in May , my kids who are older teens love it there !

I am new to Disney. What is Surf's Up? I can't find it on the Character Dining list on the disneyland website? What is the official name for it? When i select character dining, I see Ariel, PCH Grill, Plaza Inn, Goofy, and Storyteller. So is Surfs Up the PCH Grill at the PPH? thanks
