Hello all ~

I need some advice, I make our PS's next week! I'm trying to decide between Storyteller's & Goofy's for a character breakfast. Whichever one we don't do I'd plan on doing during our next trip (Spring of 09) I'm slightly leaning towards Storyteller's, I'd love to see GC during the holidays, which I know we could do without going to Storyteller's. My DS is 8 & DD is 5. DD and I will have dinner at Ariel's during our visit.

Opinions please.

Storyteller's for breakfast. but goofys is grate dinner.
were doing Storyteller's first time this trip but i think it will be grate.
if you were open to minnies plaza inn id sugest that its our fav.
my fav is goofys dinner

We had breakfast with Minnie & Friends in April ~ it was great but we haven't tried Goofy's, Storyteller's or Lilo & Stitch so it'll be awhile b4 we eat at Minnie's again.

And I have to say I strongly prefer Goofy's for breakfast and not for dinner! I just think their breakfast is far superior to - and cheaper than - their dinner selections! But aside from that, I prefer Goofy's over Storyteller's. Goofy's is more of a fun environment and the kids can get up and do the Macarena with Goofy and bang pots around. Storyteller's is more laid back and not as "fun" and I don't like their buffet as much as the one at Goofy's. Since I don't have kids, I just base my opinion on which one has the best food (for ME), and that has been Goofy's all along. I didn't even recognize some of the characters at Storytellers but they do share some of the same characters with Goofy's (like Chip & Dale are at both places, and sometimes Baloo shows up at both). I would like to try the Plaza Inn breakfast one of these days. Storytellers also has the option to order off the menu, but that is not that much cheaper than getting the buffet, so the buffet is more worthwhile. They also do not have character meals all day long, but Goofy's does.

I didn't like Goofy's breakfast and my DD8 doesn't like the wood smoke smell in Storyteller's so I haven't done that one. Our fave is Minnie's for breakfast, it's in the park and it's got great character interaction. I also love Lilo & Stitch.

I want to do Storyteller's but every time we try to go in DD8 freaks because it reminds of her house fire. :( One day she will get over that and we will be able to eat there. :) I've heard the food is really good and the characters are a ton of fun. :)

oh wow pixie im so sorry im so glade my son dosnet rember the fire we had or the smell i hope your dd gets over it and you can enjoy it were going for the first time dh is looking forward to it

My first thought was to just vote for Goofy's because we really prefer that (by A LOT) to Storyteller's. However since you say you will go to the other one (the one you don't do this time) on your next trip in March then I am inclined to vote for Storyteller's this time. I think you will be disappointed if you start out with the Goofy's character meal (the atmosphere is lots of fun and more like a party with lots of FUN kids' food in addition to some pretty good adult food - at least at breakfast) and then go to Storyteller's after that.

ITA - could have written this post!

Storyteller's at Christmas time is lovely. You can request a table by the fireplace. Ahhhhhhh . . . far removed from the loud obnoxious stuff goin on over at Goofy's. I've done both -- Storyteller's gets my vote for food and ambience.

We have been to all of the different character breakfasts. Each one offers something just a little different. Out of your two choices, Storytellers or Goofys, I would put my vote in for Storytellers. It does not have quite as many characters but I preferred it over our last trip to Goofy's for several reasons.
  • Atmosphere was much quieter. Goofy's was rather chaotic!
  • Food was better. I love their Banana Stuffed French Toast! I was not impressed with our food at Goofy's last time we went.
  • You have the option of ordering off the menu. (again, love that Banana Stuffed French Toast!)
  • They were better organized. They appeared to have a route that the characters followed which meant that they visit each table. At Goofy's it seems hit or miss.
  • Because you do have the option of ordering from the menu, you do not have to worry about missing a character while you are away from the table getting your food at the buffet table.
At Storytellers they did also have a follow the leader game with the park range which was fun for the kids. Goofy's has them get up and do some dancing.

Since you mentioned that you are also going to Ariel's which I assume would be your DD's first choice, you might ask you DS which characters he would prefer seeing and let that help you make the decision.
At Storytellers we saw Chip, Dale, Raffiki, Meeko, Coda and Kenai .
At Goofy's we have seen Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Cinderella, Mulan, Mary Poppins and Jasmine.

If you might even consider Minnie's, it is also packed with characters and the food is pretty good. Personally, I would choose it over Goofy's. There we have seen Minnie, Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, Chip, Dale, Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, Brer Bear, Brer Fox.

Of course, then there is also Lilo's over at PP. It's pretty laid back, pretty good food and fewer characters. We only saw Lilo, Stitch and Minnie but it was not crowded and they spent plenty of time with our DD. They also did play games with the kids. The main drawback to this one is that it was a long walk from our hotel on Harbor.

Still, IMHO, my favorite is Storytellers. Aside from Ariel's it is the only other one we will be doing on our trip in November. We will see if my opinion remains the same after our trip!

Good luck making your decision!

Were not in to the Brother Bear characters. I'd doubt we'd know who they were! LOL

I really, really, really want to try storytellers but like Jen, we probably wouldn't know most of the characters, I know my little ones wouldn't.

The only reason we are going to Goofy's this time (even though I swore I would NEVER go there again) is because we are staying at the DLH for the first time ever and it is just going to be so convenient to just run downstairs for dinner.

I'd say Goofy's! Were not in to the Brother Bear characters. I'd doubt we'd know who they were! LOL

Yeah, we didn't care about anyone from Brother Bear either, and Baloo, Chip and Dale, and sometimes Rafiki are all over at Goofy's too, so we didn't need to see them at ST. Plus, Goofy's sometimes has fun characters like the Genie form Aladdin and Mad Hatter, who sits down at your table and causes all kinds of mischief. The Storytellers atmosphere IS more organized, but, in my opinion, just not as fun. Goofy's is more whimsical and zany! Goofy will come over and act silly with you and Chip or Dale will write on your tablecloth and sign their name. And if you celebrate a birthday, they come out and sing a ridiculous song. Chip even helped me figure out how to work the camera I was using (all without talking)!!!! Everyone is so calm and quiet and well-behaved over at Storytellers. I like my characters to be a little amped up and wacky! And I think the breakfast buffet food is fantastic at Goofy's!!! My friend absolutely loves the biscuits and gravy and the croissant, and we are all fans of the bacon, eggs and potatoes - so yummy! And the fruit is SO fresh and delicious!

It's lookin' like we'll go with Storyteller's for Dec. (DS voted for ST) and Goofy's for our next trip. It sounds like the ambiance of ST would be wonderful during the holidays. DD would have a blast at Goofy's but DS is more reserved, Goofy's might overwhelm him. I'll order from the menu for DD who eats like a bird, get DS the buffet ~ he can out eat me, I'm not sure what I'll get for myself.

I haven't had Goofy's but have eaten breakfast at storyteller's a few times. It was great, I love it. They also have bloody mary's and champaign on the breakfast menu.
