First timer to Disneyland we are thinking of Goofy's Kitchen. I was wondering if Goofy's is similar to Chef Mickey's as in food wise? We dont like dinner at Mickey's but we do love the breakfast! The menus look similar.
Also wondering when is the last time that we can book the brunch on the weekend. They say they are open till 2 so does that mean the last reservation is at 2 or earlier?

Thanks

Our family always enjoy the food - the mac and cheese pizza and peanut butter pizzas are among our favourites. There is always plenty to choose from and the the desserts are great.

I'd advise against booking the latest slot - we've done it before and felt like we got the dregs of both the food and the character interactions (not to mention the place was a total mess). :sad2: It's too expensive a meal to have the experience compromised like that.

We have done dinner at both. We think Chef Mickey's is disgusting, but we like Goofy's kitchen. Goofy's Kitchen is much cleaner and the food is better quality. Goofy's used to have a great variety of characters, but they standardized it, so to us that was a big downgrade and it is no longer on our must do list since it involves leaving the park. The characters there are cute though. It is just a typical WDW 5 now instead of being a unique DL experience. For breakfast, we always do Minnie's breakfast and if we are doing 2 then Ariel's is the other.

We prefer Surf's Up with Mickey. But Goofy's has a large variety of food. If it is just adults, we do Storytellers.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you if the food is any good at any of the character meals. And we do lots of character meals. But the food really isn't our priority.

They are pretty comparable IMO. We used to do goofys fairy often (staying at DLH) even though the food was always so-so (breakfast and dinner IMO) since it was fun for our kids. We stopped going when they ended the character variety.

ETA- we also haven't stayed at DLH in a while (last 4 trips we chose GCH or PP), so that's part of why we haven't been in a while.

Could someone tell me about the parade at Goofy's? I am asking in general and also to find out if it is real loud. I do have noise issues.

I've only done Minnie's breakfast and that is so much fun. It's spotless, well stocked, I've never felt rushed and also the atmosphere is calm with lots of happy smiles on kids (yes of all ages :) faces which always touches me to see.

Yeah, it's similar to Chef Mickey's. Though you don't get Mickey or Donald, which makes it inferior IMHO. Just another meal with Chip and Dale. The other place Goofy's loses for me is in the desserts. I remember Chef Mickey's having some good desserts, like Oreos with a chocolate mickey hat...or something like that. There's nothing fancy realy at Goofy's.

The parade is periodic where kids are chosen/asked to run and dance around with Minnie Mouse or one of the characters while some music plays. It's fun for them! As for noise, this is a character meal. It will definitely be noisy.

Was there last Sunday, food is great, but as far as characters, it's only goofy (at the front when you check in and take pics with and shows up at the parade), then pluto, chip and dale, that's it.. so if it's characters you are looking for, i would do breakfast with Minne at plaza inn.

Minnie is usually at Goofy's. Sounds like you hit an off night or had bad timing. But yeah, lots more variety of characters at Plaza Inn.

yes, the first 2 times we went, Minnie was there, as well as Alice and Snow White, but recently it's only been the ones I listed above. sad.

That would have been back before the big change to the more limited (but pretty set) character rotation. Minnie should be one of the 5 there now.

good to know! as I do enjoy the food there.

I think Minnie's breakfast is great, we saw 12 characters. And I am not big breakfast eater. We booked it late, on an 8 am opening day. So we went on many rides before heading over for more of a brunch for us than breakfast. It may have been 10:30 or 10:40. I have not tried Storytellers breakfast yet.

We liked Goofy's but to me it is similar to Chef Mickeys, but less frantic. We did Surf'sUp character for dinner (when Goofy's was closed for renovation) and did not like the atmosphere, too brightly lit and just a large rectangular room, nothing interesting.

For us, Minnie's is seriously hit adn miss. We have had 2 very good encounters with LOTS of characters, and 3 poor experiences (under 4 characters, 1 we only saw 2 characters.) Goofy's is my granddaughters fav, feel the food is a little better, adn I like having someone to get me refills. Surf's Up has less selection of food, but makes up for it with better quality food and you get Mickey, Minnie, Stitch, Goofy, Pluto, and Daisy.

It's a shame that only one character meal is offered at dinner. Our hotel already offers breakfast plus morning is prime ride time, and I'm not going to subject my son to a princess meal (did that once at WDW for our daughter), so that just leaves Goody's Kitchen. I'm sure it's fine (but pricey) so not many options.

Double posting to share my first ever experience at Goofy's Kitchen last week. I hope this will be of help to someone :)

It was a fun Blessing to get to do a character meal on my actual birthday and a new one, at that :)We arrived a good hour early and were able to be seated shortly thereafter which was awesome. Before being taken to our table, I enjoyed getting to meet Goofy! I thought that was a really nice touch to begin the breakfst and that the picture taking had its own designated area. The experience overall was disappointing to me though :/ I honestly felt like I could have been in any buffet restaurant that just had a character or two wandering around. When I have dined at Plaza Inn (the only other character dining I have done), it felt like I was at Minnie's breakfast. Minnie's is just so adorable and fun...Goofy's just wasn't. I also much prefer the simpler in some ways food choices at Minnie's, an exciting eater, I am not!

Characters at Goofy's did come around slowly and sporadically. There didn't seem to be a constant flow or pattern. In a way that was nice because it allowed for some quieter dining time but on the other hand maybe that is what lessoned the feel to me, I'm not sure!

On a Birthday, note, first of all, an aside, I am not a fan of being in the spotlight at all. However, I did hear a few people being sung Happy Birthday to by more characters who had come over to their table. When I asked a server about that, the server seemed to discount what I had seen and just said the characters just come around individually. I was wished Happy Birthday as I was seated and that was the only extra touch. I once went to Minnie close to my birthday but not on the actual day like I did Goofy's, and was given a birthday cupcake. I do know that can vary.

The character parade I asked about was a few characters waving white towels (not sure what that was about) as they marched pretty rapidly around. I did see several diners also waving such towels. I definitely can see where this would be exciting and such fun for young diners :)I'd rather have the more immersive dining experience at Minnie's.

The cutest part of the whole thing was walking to Disneyland from Goofy's. It is a longish but not too long walk, btw. I stopped and took a photo with a Chef Goofy picture alongside a huge plate and silverware. Minnie's it is for me-- but now I know about Goofy's and I always would have wondered :) One extra P.S. What was wonderful and I did want to be sure and pass along that when you dine at Goofy's you are able to self park at the Disneyland Hotel and have 3 hours free. The walk from the car to the hotel was very short, too.

Happy Dining to all :)

I have to agree. Goofy's just isn't as much fun as it used to be when it had more characters and you never knew who was there.

Happy belated birthday! :bday:
