I am planning our trip for November and getting ready to book our character meals (cant believe we are within 60 days.. ) We are for sure doing Ariel's Grotto on one of the days in the park, and then on Sat, the day we leave, I wanted to book a character meal since we wont be in the parks. Do you like Surf's Up or Goofy's Kitchen better (we have a 2.5 year old boy and 5 year old girl)? Our five year old is gluten free, but it sounds like most places are pretty willing to work with that! Any of you been to both and have a preference between the two?

I like Surf's Up. Good interaction - not rushed - and the only place with Mickey!

agreed. the interaction at surfs up was great. not at all rushed, and they're dressed up in hawaii/beach outfits so that is fun. i think the characters are better at surfs up - mickey, daisy, pluto, minnie, goofy and of course STITCH. i don't really remember the characters at goofy's kitchen, but remember them being very random, like goofy, pluto, but also fairy godmother, and alice. are people really dying to see the fairy godmother?

they made gluten free waffles for my vegan friend, and i thought they were better than the regular waffles.

I agree that the character interaction is better at SU, but I think the food is a little better at GK.

We had a bad time on our last trip to GK; last reservation of the evening, food old and crusty, inattentive, rushed service and next to nothing for characters. Topped with a $170 bill for 4 and I'd definitely recommend Surf's Up even though I've never tried it. It couldn't be worse.

I'm making the same choice right now for our November trip!!

I noticed that Surf's Up is more expensive than Goofy's Kitchen, but with Goofy's, you can have a 'brunch'. I was wondering if it would be a better value to go for brunch. Maybe we would be more hungry than at breakfast?

We are staying at Paradise Pier though, so Surf's Up would be more convenient.

Hmmm

***Oops, no, Goofy's is not cheaper. It is the same price! What I meant is that I could get a more substantial lunch-type meal for the same price as the breakfast. If that makes any sense!
