We are getting ready to book another trip, and I wanted to ask what most people like so much about Goofys kitchen character breakfast? We went this past October and were far from thrilled. I honestly think we had a bad table, but am hesitant to try it agian as it costs so much! We were sitting in the very back right next to the door where the characters come and go. You'd think that was great... but none of them would stop to see our kids, and we actually had to ask the manager for Goofy to come pose for a picture for us! I was a little perturbed, but now that a some months have passed and I can think about it logically, I want to hear what you all like/dont about it.
Thanks!

We have been really lucky. We have probably eaten at Goofy's 12 times in the past four and a half years and always had great experiences. But I know that other people have different experiences! It is very expensive (do you have AAA? Because they give a discount for that as well as AP discounts). For that amount of money the characters should be a bit more organized! My best experiences have been at early dinner seatings. I like to go at 5:00 partly because its not as crowded and partly because that allows to enjoy dinner then get back in plenty of time to the parks for nighttime entertainment. Of course dinner is even more than breakfast! Frankly, my favorite character breakfast, is the Lilo and Stitch one. I love Goofy's for dinner but the Lilo and Stitch one is my favorite breakfast and you can order off the menu if you don't like a buffet.

I know that we have had bad experiences at the Minnie and Friends breakfast at the Plaza Inn (we are 0 for 3 on that one) but others love that one! So its hard to predict.

I would say that if you go again, and it doesnt' measure up, immediately ask to see a manager. For the price you pay (right up front with no room for wiggle with the tip even) you have a right to a great experience. Good luck, I hope you have as great a time as we always do!

I can honestly say for breakfast Goofy's Kitchen is my least favorite.. There food tasted like it had set out for a while and didn't have much flavor. Although my mom loved it only for the french toast creme bulee... I love Lilo and stitch. It's a cute one and the food is good but i think the best food in my opinion is at storytellers

Lilo and Stitch is always our fave, too! Maybe we'll just stick to that. ;)

It's been hit or miss for us, and I do think where they sit you has something to do with it. Some years we hardly had time to eat, there were so many characters! One year DH told them in advance it was our wedding anniversary and Dale came out with a CM that had a cup cake lit up with a candle. Very sweet.

The last time we went there wasn't very many characters it seemed, and we too were a bit disappointed. I will say I've gotten some of my BEST character pictures there over the years though. Especially out in front in that little area they have set up.

We did Goofy's once, and won't ever go back. We have had great luck with the early seating at Chip & Dale at the GCH and like the option of ordering off the menu.

My DH and I LOVE Goofy's kitchen. We don't have kids yet but when we get to DL I swear, we are the biggest kids there. You just have to remember that you are there for the fun more than the food, so have fun with the food and eat the peanut butter and jelly pizza or maccaroni and cheese for breakfast!!! We have had tables all over and have not had bad experiences ever; we do usually make reservations for the first available time when the Kitchen opens.

My husband and I love Goofy's Kitchen, too :yay:

We make it a point to eat there every time we go to DLR...even as 2 adults we've had great character interaction.

Our experiences at Goofy's have been mixed as well. Our very first trip was wonderful! Lots of character interaction and great food. The second trip was not as enjoyable. The characters seemed to have a hard time getting around to every table. The last time we went the food was not very good. Overall, IMHO, the place was more hectic than some of the other places. So, for the time being we have decided to go elsewhere for character meals.

As of lst year, Lilo and Stitch and Storytellers were more to our liking. Both seem more relaxed and had better food. Of course, who can say, next time we go may be an entirely different experience! :scratchin

We won't go back to Goofy's for a long while either. We must have had the same table as you, we were near the door and thought great, but 90 minutes later we had seen Goofy and Chip. That's it. The waiter told us our time was up and I told him we had seen 2 characters and were not leaving until we saw more. He brought the manager over and that is when it got um, interesting shall I say. It was my daughter's 4th birthday, keep that in mind, she is FOUR. Well the manager came over and was a little person and she noticed right away. We watch the show "Little People, Big World" so she knew. She started saying very loudly "Mamma, he is a little person, look look" over and over. I told her yes I can see that and to please stop saying it, it was not polite. He GLARED at me and I mean he was not happy. However inappropriate it was what she was saying, she was a brand new 4 and kids notice and are honest in what they say at that age. He has to know working with small children it is going to come up. So he went off and got Cinderella and asked if we wanted anymore, again with his pissed off demeanor. I said yes we do, we paid, we wasted all this time and money here, we want to see more than 3 characters as Baloo, Mad Hatter, Peter Pan and I forget who else was all in there that we could see but never came to us. And to top it off, it was her birthday, that is why we were there. Yes, I was less than thrilled with our experience.

We are doing Ariel's Grotto this year, lol.princess:

We've been to Goofy's Kitchen probably about 10x. Our experiences have been either fantastic or just "OK" (that one and only time we sat in the back where characters go in/out).

We stopped going last year, because my DH and I decided that we have "done our time" at Goofy's and our DDs were getting older. We wanted better food. With our DDs (11 and 8 at the time), we went to Storytellers and really enjoyed their food for about the same price. It was a nicer, calmer experience, and the place has great ambiance. This year, we'll be going to Storytellers again. Our DDs protested at first because Goofy's Kitchen has such appeal. But now I think they're as hooked as we are on Storytellers.

Goofy's Kitchen is great and we had great memories there...however, it was time to move on...

We've been several times and I'll just say we have been less than impressed each time. Not only with the characters but also with the food. We won't be going back. We prefer Minnie and Friends breakfast in the park instead, cheaper too!

Goofy's has always been a good experience for us (about 10 times now) while we have struck out at Lilo and Stich, Ariel's and Plaza Inn (back when it was princesses not Minnie).

Haven't tried Storyteller's yet but don't really care for the characters that attend.

We'll be sticking to Goofy's, but only breakfast, we didn't find the dinner as appealing.

We've been to Goofy's twice. The first time was great, the second time was okay.
the first time, it was our first character meal ever. We sat down and the Mad Hatter came over. We had NO IDEA what we were supposed to be doing. I remember he looked a little confused when he left us, as we didn't take pictures with him or get his autograph at all. (I know, how silly were we?) We figured it out by the time the next character came (don't remember who it was...maybe Baloo). We saw lots of characters and had a great time

The second time, we were seated near a large birthday party. I remember Alice hanging out with them for quite a while. She went away, and came back later. We saw some characters in the meantime, but not as many as previously. We were getting ready to go when Alice came back (and I mean literally "go" as we were driving home as soon as we left) We waited around for Alice, and she tried to SKIP us! She was heading back for the birthday table! I kinda timidly called her over, and she stayed in character and came right over, saying, "I wasn't going to skip you." Uh, I think she was, but I wanted my kids to see her before we left. I remember the dad at a nearby, non-birthday related table, being mad that Alice had spent so much time at the big birthday table and that there weren't a ton of characters.

We will be going back this year. I'm trying to decide on a good time, though. And I hope I can request not to sit near where the characters come out!

We loved Goofy's Kitchen, but had dinner there, not breakfast. We had an early seating (5pm I think) and it was a slow time of year (early May), but we had great interaction! We loved it and plan to go back next week when we're there.

We have done Goofy's 3x's.

The first was one of our most favorite memories on one of our first visits with my son.

The last was one of our WORST park visit experiences. We saw 1 character in 2 hours. Even when we complained they did nothing. The little girl next to us left in tears, it was horrible.

So unfortunately, we will not go back.

We much rather attend Minnie's in the park. Plus, they have biscuits and gravy which is DH's favorite. ;) We have also enjoyed Ariels and Lilo & Stitch, but for over all experience (food & characters) we prefer Minnie's.

We had breakfast there in May & had a wonderful experience. The food was great & the character interaction was even better than we had anticipated. All of the characters made it to our table, sitting & chatting with the kids. They thought it was the coolest thing ever. When my daughter was too shy to go get a pot or a pan to "play" when Goofy came out to play & dance with the kids Chip went out of his (or her) way to play & dance with her. That just made her day. We are going again when we go in October.

I would like to chime in on this topic. My friends and I have eaten at Goofy's for breakfast at least once almost every time we have gone to the park over the last 16 years, and we have pretty much had consistently good experiences. We don't have any kids with us as a rule - just a bunch of us silly adults - and we really enjoy it. I think there was one time we did not make it to Goofy's because of who we were with and the trip did not feel complete. We even brought a grouchy, non-festive friend with us and she had a blast there. But, that said, it has to be the right combination of character interaction and most importantly, FOOD that makes the money spent worthwhile! Even though we love the characters, we would not eat there if we did not like the food - especially at those prices, which steadily rise (last time we were there in December, the price was $29 per adult and they add in the gratuity now, which they did not do in the old days, and I am not sure why they even do that NOW as it is a self-serve BUFFET!!!!!). First of all, we find the selection of items to eat to be quite appealing and bountiful. You don't feel like you are forced to choose just one or two things because that's all there is. There are MANY items to choose from - too many, in fact - and they are always kept fresh. The bacon is yummy, the eggs are delicious, the pineapple is sweet, the potatoes are scrumptious, the pastries are delectable, etc., etc. My friend always gets the biscuits and gravy and says they are out of this world. The orange juice is even great. The one thing we did NOT like was the special 'birthday cupcake' they brought out - it was hard, as though it had been sitting on a shelf for days, and it was dark chocolate, not milk, which was a bit much for a cupcake. And they made a peculiar choice in placing the maple syrup on a different table station than where the waffles or pancakes were, which made NO sense as it was way over by the eggs, and you had to reach around the people scooping eggs to get to the syrup which should have been by the waffles in the first place!!!

Truthfully, I like this character breakfast buffet at Goofy's better than the Storytellers Cafe buffet, and ordering from the menu at Storytellers does not save you much money at all. You might as well stick with the buffet and get the most for your buck. I was NOT, however, as thrilled with the Goofy dinner buffet, oddly. I did not like the choices as much as I did for breakfast items. And it is more expensive, as other posters have stated here. We have never had a shortage of character interaction - even seeing occasional rare characters like the Mad Hatter or Jafar - at Goofy's, with the exception of this past September. That was a lackluster character day, and the characters just walked from one door to the other and waved at tables but never stopped. It was weird. It was like Goofy was on strike! BUT when we went back in December, the characters were all over the place, back in the swing of things. We could barely take a bite of food before Chip, Dale, Baloo, Goofy, etc. came by. We figured September was just an 'off time.'

In fact, I WOULD attach a photo from Goofy's in December here - IF I could figure out how to do it!!!! How do I attach a photo from my hard drive? Everyone else seems to be able to do it!
