Goofy's Kitchen Dinner?

I've seen a lot of stuff about the breakfast/brunch at Goofy's Kitchen, but I'm wondering about the value of the dinner. DD is not a big breakfast eater at all, - and we don't want to waste precious morning park hours - so we were considering dinner here instead. I know it's the characters that really make it, but it's pricey and I still want to get some value for my food dollar.

Any thoughts?

We've done Goofy's for dinner. The buffet is huge with lots of choices that help when you have a picky eater. We still tend to favor the breakfast/brunch buffet over the dinner, but that's because we've seen more characters at these then we have at the dinners. (but that's just our experiences)

We prefer the food at the brunch. We usually choose an early lunch seating around 11 or so and enjoy several hours of precious morning time in the parks first. They serve breakfast and lunch items for brunch.

We like the dinner at Goofy's. The variety and quality is good. We get the first available time so the place is not packed and we get out at a reasonable time. My daughter really likes the interaction when Goofy gets the kids together so we need to stay at least thru one of them. She relly does not eat anywhere near $31.00 worth of food but it is fun and our one splurge. We have also done brunch. It was much busier since everyone was trying to eat before the park opened. The food was just as good.

We have done dinner before, and have reservations for our upcoming trip in a few weeks. Dinner for us has been amazing. The variety of food was amazing, and the food was really good. We seen a large variety of characters (Fairy God Mother came over 3 times to visit us) she said we had a nice party LOL! :goodvibes We have gone each time and set reservations for 7:00. It seems a wee bit quieter in there around that time with crowd levels and the characters have been plentiful. Its nice having more then a 1 minute interaction with each.

The menus given online are pretty sparse - what did they have when you were there? Picky eaters :rolleyes2

Hope this helps!! They have a salad bar with assorted salads & vegies. They have fruit, hot dogs, chicken, carved meat with all the sides, mac & cheese, pizza & desserts galore. This is just a small sampling of what they offer.

I don't think there's any "value" food anywhere in Disneyland.

I think you have to decide if you are willing to pay what Goofy's asks and if so, then it's a good value. We went for dinner instead of breakfast for a couple reasons:
1. We did it on arrival night and it really started our trip off great. Checked off quite a few characters whose lines I didn't have to stand in right there.
2. We also didn't want to waste the good morning hours and I knew my family wouldn't eat as much or as well for breakfast.

I have four semi-picky kids that found plenty to eat. Did they eat "their money's worth?" I don't know; I'm not sure they ever do when we eat out, including the gross local buffet my DD8 insisted on patronizing for last night's b-day dinner. I think the character interaction is a large part of the "value" for many.

It's definitely mostly for the character interaction, and that is the real value. But I could sit one of my daughters in front of a feast of all favorites at 7 am, and because of the early hour, she won't eat a single thing (and then be crying two hours later when we're in line for Space Mountain, starving for food :rolleyes2). I just wanted to ensure there would be at least some decent food at dinner for both of them, dh and I. I know Disney dining is expensive; I've budgeted an alarming amount for it - dh really freaked out about that part!

Thanks so much for the responses and pictures. It looks like we should all be able to load up nicely at dinner!

I agree that there's not much of a food "value" at Disneyland. With that being said, we LOVE Goofy's Kitchen. Been there for dinner twice and it was a big hit. Lots of characters, great interaction, my kids actually found something to eat (they usually eat nothing). Love it! :thumbsup2

We did Goofy's kitchen on Wed for dinner. It was awesome!!
Def pricey - but IMO it's much easier to eat $40 worth of dinner than bfast.
I made a 5:30 ps and we arrived at 5:10 and were seated within 10 min.
We met Goofy, Dale, Pluto, Jasmin, Mulan.
Everyone loved the food - dh was impressed with carved beef & turkey as well as salad stuff and he loved the fried chicken - both ds found ribs, pizza, pasta, fresh fruit - as well as yummy desserts. We all left with big grins & full tummys.
The character interaction was so goood! Goofy did songs and games and because it was early there weren't too many kids. They came by a LOT.
Thumbs up from me!

Can anyone confirm whether the "carved meat" station includes Prime Rib?

Thanks! :goodvibes

I was goign to say that yes it was prime rib & roast turkey.
But now my dh argues that the cm called it New York Strip.
Yummy rare beef.

These pictures are making me hungry! :rotfl:

We went for dinner a few weeks ago, and based on the food and service we experienced there, we ended up nixing the other few reservations we had for on site meals (including PCH Breakfast, Blue Bayou, and Carnation Cafe) and decided to save the money and had the rest of our meals at Garden Walk, Mimi's, and just grabbed counter stuff.

I knew should have been worried when the person that made the reservation, the photographer, and our server all "highly recommended" the peanut butter and jelly pizza...seriously? That's what they hang their hat on??? :confused3

I did not have overly high expectations. But as a WDW vet who has eaten at many character meals and other buffets, I was really disappointed.

Bumping this up because I can't find my old thread where I asked the same question. I've heard such good things about Goofy's Kitchen's breakfast/brunch, but DH wants me to book dinner (he's not really a breakfast person). I'm willing to tell a little white lie (they didn't have any ressies left for dinner sweetie!) so we can do brunch if the food is really that much better than their dinner offerings! :rotfl: I tried searching for a list of foods/menus for GK dinner, but didn't find much. Most of them listed: carved meat, mac&cheese....and so much more! That was helpful, thanks!

We did Goofy's dinner June 2009. My kids are picky eaters and loved it. Had tons of stuff to pick from. They ate tons of mac n cheese. Not sure why but for some reason they really enjoyed it. Plus enjoyed the characters. It was are favorite meal while at DL last year.

Does anyone know if there's a thread here or elsewhere that has a more comprehensive dinner menu than the ones I found. Most of the sites that listed so-called "menus" just listed a few items + "much more" TIA!
