Goofys kitchen dinner reservations

We are going to make dinner reservations for during our trip the last week of april. My question is, is it best to make the reservation for the first time slot of 5pm or later in the evening? Dinner would be for 4 adults and 2 toddlers (2 and 3) Any suggestions would be helpful.

If it were me...
1) with toddlers the earlier the better. But mine woke up cranky, so 6pm would've been more enjoyable than right after they woke up from naps.

2) I prefer eating a decent brunch/late breakfast at 10-ish, snack mid-afternoon, then eat dinner at 5/5:30 at the parks. Means I'm only paying for two meals.

3) regarding characters...I've only had brunch at Goofy's at 10:30/11, and haven't been since they eliminated the variety of characters.

if you go for brunch is there a lot of "lunch" options or is it mostly breakfast?

We (well, I) usually eat more of the breakfast offerings. I know they always have regular & PB&J pizza, salmon with cream cheese & bagels, some sort of hot pasta, and mac & cheese.

I don't know how it is since they have reduced and standardized the characters in the last couple of months, but before that, we really enjoyed the visits when we had the first time slot of the evening. We found that since the restaurant had not yet started to fill, the characters spent a lot of time with us at our table and also returned to see us if they had made their rounds and were waiting on new tables. We had that experience more than once. We have also done a reservation about an hour after opening, and while it was still fun, the interaction was definitely much better if you are one of the fist tables seated.
