Goofy's Great Birthday Bash NEW 6/2 page 34

Yet again your food looks delicious, it sounds as though you did the right thing changing your ADR :thumbsup2

You slide down out of the clown's mouth! Got to give you credit! If I remember correctly, you too have a fear of clowns. You would not have gotten me anywhere near that clown!!! :lmao:

Glad to see you all had another great day in Disney! Sorry to hear about your basement...but hurray for tackling your to-do list...it feels great to cross things off that list (sometimes I put things I have already done on it, just to feel the joy of crossing off!):rotfl:

Sounds like a great evening, Jay!

I'm with you. Naps are pure joy!!!!

Hugs to you & your family.

p.s. Hi Heidi & Figment!
:) It was so nice to be able to sneak in a rest. :) It might seem like a waste of time to some, but for me, it was a very special treat! :) PS HELLO FIGMENT and HEIDI too. :cutie:

Yet, another great update, Jay. I had forgotten to see if you'd done one (I have been trying to keep up our PTR...yes, we're going "home" in September).
Oh, a September trip! I am very happy for you! What fun you will have!!:cloud9: By home you do mean CSR, right? If so, have slice of that YUMMY pizza for me (the shrimp pesto pizza- DELISH!). Thanks for sticking with me as I 'plow through' at my snail's pace.

Hi Jay!!! I'm so glad you are back! I'm sorry about the water in the basement. Never a good thing.
Love the new update... looks like a fun evening of good food and great entertainment. The Boardwalk at night is fun, lots of people to see and enjoy.
So I am wondering when the big moment is coming?? I am really looking forward to the surprise coming up! You make the best trips full of excitement! :)
I am so happy that we are done cleaning up the basement and sorting through everything we pulled out of there. I don't know how we accumulated so much junk! It feels great to be organized and decluttered! How sad that it took a flood to spur me into doing it. ;) :rotfl:

Hee hee hee, the surprise is coming up 'soon'. ;) I was having such a hard time not telling Goofy at this point during our trip. I almost bite my lip into shreds trying to keep my mouth closed. :lmao:

Somehow I missed your post about your basement! That stinks, hope the clean up is going well.

Not sure what the dessert was that you had, but it sure looks tasty!
Thanks, clean up went very well. We were very lucky and although it took a lot of elbow grease, time and effort, we were able to salvage most important things and declutter everything else. Getting rid of so much stuff felt almost liberating. ;) Right now, our store rooms/bedroom/family room that were in the basement are just empty shells. We need to have the insulation replaced and the drywall put in again to where it was cut out (about 2 feet up all around the basement) but at least the water proofing part is done and the potential for mold/future problems was all taken care of. PHEW. ;) I am actually excited about the chance to redecorate everything down there. :thumbsup2

Sounds like a FABULOUS end to the day!! I love how happy he looks in all the pictures!
We were both having a great day that day. He was one very happy boy throughout the trip.

I absolutely love all the pictures of Goofy! :goodvibes He looks so happy in all of them. The performers on the Boardwalk look like so much fun.

Hi Barb!!! :lovestruc
I love the lively atmosphere on the boardwalk at night. The performers, games, treats, shopping and people watching are all so much fun!

your dinner looks heavenly!! looks like a fun evening!!
I am a big fan of the Flying Fish now! :)

The food looks delish!! How's the clean up going?
Thankfully much better than expected. We are so lucky that we had the needed funds to get things cleaned up properly in order to prevent mold or other problems in the future. I am VERY thankful for that. :goodvibes

Yet again your food looks delicious, it sounds as though you did the right thing changing your ADR :thumbsup2
I still wish I had been able to try out the Yachtsmen Steakhouse, but I guess that is what next time is for. ;)

No real fear of clowns here but they do skeeve me out. A clown once threw up on me ( I only wish I was kidding). A clown 'had an accidental stomach upset issue' on me when I was a little girl. One minute I was sitting there eating my cotton candy and smiling and so excited to be at the circus and the very next minute my shirt was splattered in clown vomit. I was disgusted but my dad (who was with me at the time) didn't think it was that bad. ???????????? I remember that I got a free circus t-shirt to change into, a new bag of cotton candy, a stuffed elephant and a ride on a real elephant to make up for it but I still associate clowns with all things that smell rotten. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Crossing things off of a to-do list is one of those small 'great pleasures' in life! ;)

Day 6...Back to EPCOT we go! :)

Our second day at EPCOT was an early one. We wanted to explore the Future World area before it got crowded a bit later in the day. Our first stop was Soarin. This is one of Goofy's favorite rides ever. We grabbed a fast pass for later and hopped in line. Well, at least went through the area where a line would quickly start to form behind us. Ha ha ha. We were lucky enough to wait only to once we were being put into our departure gates. :thumbsup2

Next up, we rode Spaceship Earth, Ellen's Energy Adventure and played with 'Figment'. Note that Test Track and Mission Space didn't even garner any attention. It's funny how brothers can be so different, just a few months before I had spent the entire day running from ride to ride to ride with Goofy's younger brother, Stitch. Our morning was much more about the atmosphere and stopping to explore everything we encountered than hopping on ride after ride. After the rides we did enjoy, we headed over to Innovations and found out that we really enjoy the velcro area. We had a blast creating our own frogs. We both agreed that the free velcro frogs weren't half as cool as the free plastic robots you used to be able to make but we did have a lot of fun making them. Here are our final creations (that we were allowed to take home with us).

Frogs safely stowed in our day bag, we headed back to Soarin' again and used our fast pass. I am very glad we didn't need to join the stand by line because the posted wait time had already grown to 90 minutes! Once we were done gliding over CA, our stomachs started to rumble. Today we were going to do lunch on the fly. No reservations, we were just going to eat when we got hungry and eat whatever sounded good to us right then. Turns out Goofy's sweet tooth was calling so we headed over to the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. As we walked back to the bakery, it started to rain. We were happy to have our cheapy emergency ponchos stuffed in our day bag! We whipped them out and had them on in a matter of seconds and we were able to keep going while we watched most others run for cover or to buy expensive Disney ponchos.

We thought it might be good to keep our meal light after all of the eating we had done so far this during the vacation. So we split a very generously sized roast beef sandwich, a cup of leek and cheese soup, a tasty sweet pretzel and some school bread. We washed it all down with two bottles of water and I have to say, it was one of our favorite meals of the entire trip. We sat in the covered outdoor seating area and people watched which we both enjoyed but the main reason we both rated this meal so high was that the food was simply delicious! We both rated this meal two thumbs way up high!

Since we had walked back to the World Showcase area of EPCOT to dine, Goofy wanted to do a little more world exploration. This time, we ended up in China. It was so beautiful there and I think the pictures do a much better job sharing the beauty than I could ever find words to express.

There were just so many beautiful details to take in. We spent quite a bit of time just soaking it all in. We loved the foot bridges, ponds, small water fall and even the bamboo. It was very peaceful!

While we were there, we also stopped to watch the Dragon Legend Acrobats perform. Those little kids did some AMAZING things. I cannot believe how flexible they were or how well they were able balance! We were lucky to have gotten a good seat right up front because quite a crowd built up all around them as they performed their show.

After a bit of shopping, we left China and strolled around the rest of the World Showcase just having fun people watching. It was a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon. We snacked on a cookie in Germany, a Kaki Gori in Japan and bought some tasty maple syrup candy in Canada. Basically, we did a whole lot of 'nothing' that was really something special! We relaxed and went with the flow and had fun watching others have fun as well. We shopped a bit more than we should have :lmao: but all in all, most of our time was spent just strolling at a very relaxed pace. I even put the camera away for the duration of the afternoon. I didn't turn any of my attention away from enjoying what we were doing in order to snap photos.

I remember sitting on a bench enjoying our cookie and thinking about just how different a day at EPCOT with Goofy was than my time here with Stitch had been. For two boys who are best friends, brothers and are truly closer than twins (even though they were born 17 months apart) I could hardly wrap my mind around just how different each of their ideas of a 'great park day' was! Stitch would have been bored stiff with Goofy's day and Goofy would have been run ragged with Stitch's! I remember thinking how blessed I was to get to be the mom of two such wonderfully different little guys. And I wondered just how my mom and me trips would turn out with each of their brothers as well and smiled at the thought of finding out. :cloud9:

UP NEXT: An early dinner and another evening enjoying the BWI. Here's a picture hint of where we were going to eat that early dinner.

Sounds like a perfect day! Your boys are definitely different, I can tell from the trip reports. My goal for our trip in October is to spend more time just relaxing. We will see how that goes.

Yes, by home, I mean the CSR again. It's just "home" to us. We thought of going to AKL, but we couldn't afford savannah view and that is the only way I'll stay there. The Beach Club is on our short list (along with the AKL) of the last Disney resort we want to try, but it was way beyond our budget this time (especially since we want to try to do the Halloween party). I have a PTR going (linked in my siggy if you ever want to take a peak).

Another perfect day you and Goofy had at Epcot.

Hi Jay loving learning more about your Goofy:) I always read your TR when I'm sad, my fiance who's never been at the Disboards knows all about your adventures and when I'm sad he suggests I read your cruiseline WL one. I know that may sound a bit obssessed, but your family's closeness makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That and Cinderella and Stitch together is really sweet (seriously arrange their marriage). I am bad for lurking but I do read everything. I know people who write TRs like people to come out of their lurkdome and comment.

So I can't wait to hear more, and to hear of Aladdin's special trip.

Are you guys doing another family trip anytime soon. Though I love the individual bonding time I just get more and more curious about what the rest are doing and miss your lovely family together.

Thank you for the multiple hours of joy your trip reports have given me.

What a nice day in Epcot! I am going to have to try the school bread this time... everyone talks about it so guess I will have to join in! :rotfl:
It is interesting how different our kids can be. It's fun to see the personalities develop and blossom.
Ok, you are really getting me chomping at the bit to read about the big surprise! :cool1: I will be patient a little while longer...:goodvibes

My mom and I ate at the bakery in Norway last month as well, and were also really impressed - those sandwiches were huge!

I'm loving Goofy's relaxed laid back style :goodvibes

Also getting very anxious for the big surprise! Are we almost there????

It really is amazing how different siblings can be. But how wonderful that you could spend that quality one on one time and enjoy their different personalities :goodvibes

Oh and your lunch did look good :thumbsup2

Sounds like a nice relaxing Disney day at your son's pace. I have never looked that much in the China pavilion - who knew there was so much cool stuff!

Hey Jay!! It's good to see you back on the boards! I hope you and your boys are enjoying the summer so far. :thumbsup2

Hey Jay!! LOVE YOUR TR!!! I can't wait to read more about this trip!!!! And the next one and the one after that!!! :goodvibes

my two boys are so different as well! I marvel at it sometimes!!
Yummmmmmm that lunch looks delicious!!

I think once you start to relax at Disney, it's hard to give up that relaxation time...it's addictive! ;) I hope our next family trip we can work in some fun downtime without losing anyone's interst (that's always the hardest part the balance of what a vacation includes so that nobody is bored/crabby). ;)

I know some would stay at AKL with or without the view, but for me, I would rather be at the CSR if I didn't have a view of the animals too! AKL is one of my top top top top top top places to stay but without the balcony overlooking the animals??? I wouldn't want to stay there (spoiled lil' me;) ).

Doesn't the Beach Club's pool look awesome?! I want to stay there or the Yacht Club one day soon and try it out for myself. :)

PS I will be peeking at your pre trip report soon. :)

THANK YOU...that's the nicest thing anyone has said to me in weeks! :) You are far too sweet! :cloud9:

Just this last weekend we were over at Cinderella's house and all of us were playing games together and we ran out of seats (there were 10 of us trying to fit around an 8 person table...lol). Cinderella and Stitch ended up sharing their seat. It was adorable and I wish I would have had my camera ready to snap a picture. They were wedged together trying to keep balanced and still play. When one of them would wiggle a little trying to reach the game they would end up giggling and grabbing each other to stop from falling. Those two will definatly be the lifelong friends no matter what...I can only hope that one day she will be my daughter-in-love (I saw that once and LOVE LOVE LOVE that way to describe it). If not, I imagine she will be standing up their as one of his 'groomsmen' :rotfl: or maybe just a bridesmaid. ;) I think it's really neat that they have been so close since they could barely walk. All of my kids have been very lucky in that we have been able to settle down and not move around a lot so that they could develop the lifelong friendships that they have.

THANKS AGAIN!!

What a nice day in Epcot! I am going to have to try the school bread this time... everyone talks about it so guess I will have to join in! :rotfl:

What did you end up getting at hte bakery? Did you try the schoolbread?

I loved his laid back style too! He taught me to not just stop and smell the roses but to take the time to watch the butterfiles flit back and forth too. ;)

It really is amazing how different siblings can be. But how wonderful that you could spend that quality one on one time and enjoy their different personalities :goodvibes

Just wait until I get my act together enough to write about Aladdin's trip (WHEW, another totally different kind of trip!). I loved being able to take the time to appreciate the differences in their touring styles (and their personalities in general). Variety is the spice of life...and over my year of birthday trips, I had a ton of it (variety that is;) ).

Sounds like a nice relaxing Disney day at your son's pace. I have never looked that much in the China pavilion - who knew there was so much cool stuff!
To be honest, that is the first time I ever spent any amount of time exploring the China pavillion. I would love to share it with DH too. I think he would really enjoy it.

Hey Jay!! It's good to see you back on the boards! I hope you and your boys are enjoying the summer so far. :thumbsup2
It's so hard to find time with a toddler in the house! I forgot just how busy you are when you have a two year old scooting around everywhere and into everything. I LOVE LOVE LOVE having him but he does eat into my DIS time. :rolleyes1 Thankfully, he keeps me (and everyone else) entertained in other ways. Just yesterday we had a lot of thunderstorms in our area and he grabbed a big foam/rubber dinosaur that we got him at AK during Goofy's trip and he carried it around all day. If he heard thunder, he would grab it and hold it up (as if it was protecting him) and then 'ROOOOOOOAR' back at the thunder. I think he thought it was a big dinosaur somewhere. :rotfl2: He never fails to make us all laugh!

And yes, we are very much enjoying the summer. It's been a busy one so far with no signs of letting up. It seems like I turn the calendar one day and wake up a very few mornings later to flip it to the next month. Time sure does fly!

Hey Jay!! LOVE YOUR TR!!! I can't wait to read more about this trip!!!! And the next one and the one after that!!! :goodvibes
;) I am so glad you are still here! I cannot wait to share, I just need to find some time to sit down and type. Hmmm...maybe that should be what I do during naptime instead of making dinner/cleaning. :lmao:

my two boys are so different as well! I marvel at it sometimes!!
Yummmmmmm that lunch looks delicious!!
It's hard to believe they are from the same family sometimes, isn't it! It really makes you scratch your head to think they came from the same gene pool sometimes. ;) Then again, my boys all look a whole lot alike so I think that's why it's sometimes even more surprising for me that they act very differently.

What did you end up getting at hte bakery? Did you try the schoolbread?

I got the Norwegian club and a cloudberry horn for dessert, mom ordered the ham & apple sandwich and the school bread. We cut everything in half and shared it. I'm glad I tried the school bread, but it just wasn't my kind of dessert, I liked the cloudberry horn much better! ::yes::

I can only imagine. My Husband and I don't have any kids yet, but I do have friends who have kids and they are a handful! My mom used to tell me stories about entertaing things I used to do when I was younger and I had no choice to believe her because you really can't make those kinds of things up. I love the Dinosaur Protection. We need him to come down to our house in Florida to protect us from all the Nasty, wild weather we have been having the last 4 days. It gets so hot(my temp. Gauge in my truck read 105 degrees yesterday) and then all of a sudden these terrible storms form and last for a while. It's been kind of scarey lately. We have gotten a lot of downed trees and power lines. But, I am very glad to hear you guys are all enjoying your summer. I hope that continues throught the summer and that you guys get to do lots of fun things(like got to Disney World) lol!!

Sounds like a great day at Epcot. It's special that you have gotten to enjoy each of the boys' personalities one-on-one! Also, nice for each boy to have some time to do exactly what he wants to do. Sharing is an important skill, but it's nice to not have to share sometimes! ;)
