What do you think for a little girl just turned three the week before our trip? She makes the height requirement but what is it like? She didn't much like the dark rides last year when she was two (peter pan, pooh, snow white or philharmagic)... plus she was terrified by the Wallace and Grommit movie... we have never taken her on anything fast before. Brave but SENSITIVE soul.

I've got one just like her. :goodvibes

She was terrified of the Snow White ride and to this day will not watch Snow White anymore because of that ride. She also refuses to go back on Winnie the Pooh because of the storm.

But she absolutely LOVES Goofy's Barnstormer. This was her very first roller coaster when she was your daughter's age. We weren't really sure about whether she would like it, but after one ride, she was HOOKED. Now when we go, that is one of the rides we have to go on over and over again, along with Test Track and Thunder Mountain, but that's another story. :teeth:

Goofy's Barnstormer is perfect for a first time coaster, because the ride itself is very short. I mean, like MAYBE about 1 minute, if that. Actually, it feels more like about 45 seconds to me. :guilty: But it's great because if she doesn't like it, it won't be long before it's over. I don't think you'll have to worry about that though, because it is so much fun. It's all outdoors, and there's nothing major, just a few little short drops and a couple of twists and turns, but it is a fun little ride.

Have a blast!

goofys barnstormer is great.
one word of warning though....after it is "over" as it slows down it comes to an abrupt stop and once threw my little boys head into the front rail. Just make sure you have your arm ready to hold the little one back to prevent any bumps/bruises.

When we went Dec. 2004, my DD had just turned 2 and met the height requirements.... she saw it and begged to go on it-I was leary, but agreed-it turned out to be her favorite ride!!!! :)

Our DD was just about 4 when we first rode. It was the first thing we did, first time in the parks. She freaked out and it was years before she would go near any kind of roller coaster again. If we had it to do over, we would have gone on other rides first to get her used to the whole theme park idea. She always has a hard time experiencing new things and we just didn't take that into consideration, assuming it was a tame ride and she would like it. She didn't.

With my 3 children, each child has been very different. Also, each child's perception of the rides changed from visit to visit. In May, my not quite 2 1/2 yo dd was frightened on many rides. She would not even consider riding the Barnstormer. By October, she rode it repeatedly. Nothing frightened her! Go figure!

DD 2 has a love/hate relationship with this ride. EVERY time we walked by it, she would have a fit to be able to ride it!!!! The pictures I am including tell the whole story!!!! But the ride is great!!!!

at one month before his 3rd bday my ds was scared of the pooh ride, but loved barnstormer - he rode it over and over and even waited to get the front seat. it is a completely different experience from a dark ride.

My ds went on the Barnstormer at 2 1/2. He really wasn't afraid of much, but you just never know how they will react. It is over SO quick, and the first time he went he was absolutely screaming and hysterical when the coaster slowed.....it took a minute, but I soon realized he was upset b/c it STOPPED LOL! He wanted to go over and over, and since we happened to hit a time when there was no line for this, sometimes he didn't even have to get off! He still cried when it stopped the first couple of times, and I felt bad thinking people thought *I* was making this poor scared child go on this ride! :)

I agree with everyone that the ride is very short. It is over very quickly so that's a bonus if any child doesn't like it.

I didn't love the ride and thought it was very jerky (not smooth). My oldest son loves it (even at 3). My younger son did not like it when he was 3. My niece who will be 3 in January, just returned from WDW and she is afraid of everything but loved Goofy's Barnstormer and rode it over and over! Isn't it funny how every child is different? :) I say try it after she rides a few outdoor tame rides (Dumbo or Aladdin's carpets).

I agree that all kids are different. My dd was 5 the first time she rode Goofy's Barnstormer and it really scared her. She told me not to EVER do that to her again. My dh also had the same reaction! But she's just that type of kid. Now, she's 10 and she loves all roller coasters. I would also lead up to it by riding other rides first and then going. Just my 2 cents worth.

My DD had just turned 3 on our first trip. She absolutlely loves this ride, but then again she is a daredevil anyway. She was very dissapointed that she couldn't ride Splash Mountain. (just missed the cut off). She also loved Snow White, Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, PotC even Haunted Mansion. You know your kid best. Of course, with DS5 on this same trip it took a little parental persuasion (" just ride it one time and you'll love it", see your sister wants to ride, ets) He did like it and we went several more times.

Have fun

Our DS (3 1/2 at the time of our trip) didn't really care for it much. It sort of scared him but not enough for him to admit it. He just said he didn't want to ride it again. Maybe this year he will be more willing.

Our DS turned three just after our first trip. We took him on the Barnstormer and he loved it!! Not dark so he could see where he was going. :wave2:

DD3 LOVED Barnstormer, she loves anything fast, she is a little daredevil!

We would hear 'Again! Again!" after the ride!

(There was no one waiting when we went, so we went on 3x's in a row!)

But this is also the child that went on any ride she was tall enough for.

The Barnstormer was my DS first memorable experience with coaster type rides at 3 y.o. As a previous poster mentioned, when the ride was almost over, it had stopped abruptly and he hit the safety bar. No big event but I had always put my arm between him and the bar since then. Then the last time we went, I noticed that they had installed padding on the bars. All aside, I noticed that he absolutely loved the ride and planted the seeds for Splash Mountain and Big Thunder and now at 4.5, he frequently takes his Thomas and Friend trains to pretend Big Thunder. At DL,he was able to ride Space Mountain. He's going to be sad that he still can't ride at MK.

What is the height requirement?? Thanks!
35" minimum. IMHO, the ride feels milder up front than at the back since the train doesn't "let go" of the lift chain until the last car reaches the top. The first car feels like it is half-way down the drop by that time.
