Question #300 outta ? before first cruise with family:

I have heard that the rooms right below Goofy's Party area on deck 8 can be "Noisy" and it runs from 10pm to 12am. Would you rate it on par with a 17 year old's mustang pumping out 1000 watts of subwoofer bass or is it not as bad as the complaints I am hearing from 3rd party's hearsay.

On the Eastern and Western cruises there are deck parties but they are not every night. Of course there is the sailaway party on the first afternoon, but that is over by 5:30 pm

On Mexicali....night on the Western (Wed) and Tropicali....night on the Eastern (Tues) the deck parties are pretty much over by 11:00 pm. There is also a Cinco De Mayo deck party (not very noisey) on the Western but that is over early as well). I would not worry too much about the deck parties. Well, we never worry about noise because we are right there making the noise!!!!

I also have a teen much as you described and I would take deck party loud over sub woofer loud anytime!!!

We were in 8536 on the 4 day cruise. The Nassau party did run late, but the noise did not bother us. We could hear the music, but we were so tired it just put us to sleep!

We were in #8046 on the 4 day Wonder and we had heard from some friends that the middle of Deck 8 would be noisy. However we did not experience any substantial noise from the parties. The only noise I heard was from the crew resetting the deck chairs in the morning, about 4AM. I was only bothered that one night and no on else in the room was awakened. i am usually a light sleeper so maybe that was it. The three staterooms around us were taken by my wife's family and I specifically asked them if any of them were bothered by any noise and they all said no. It couldn't have been too bad because I had no reservations about making another reservation for the same room.

Hi Gigashadow. We were in cabin 8042 for our first cruise last August. It was relatively quiet. My DM would probably even tell you the tables near The Goofy pool on deck 9 were not that bad even during the parties. Just bear in mind she needs a hearing aid but refuses to wear one...

Thank you for your replies, we are going to leave our assigned room as is. Just didn't want to feel like we were going to have Studio 54 right in the cabin with us - LOL.

GAKoch - This is our first cruise and we are assigned the same room(8536)/4day trip that you had. Were you happy with the room - Room location / Verandah view / Quality of room? Did you do a trip report in the Cruise Line Trip Reports about this room? Both Search features have been disabled (for now?) and I dont want to manually search if you didn't.

Again thanks for all the replies !

If you can handle the teenager's music you'll have nothing to worry about! :p :p

Gigashadow - It was our first cruise too and we loved it! The room is in a great location - right near the stairs/elevator. But it's around the corner so you don't notice it once at the room. The veranda was wonderful, except for the smokers that were in the suite next door. When they were out the air was not so nice to breathe.
A word of warning - if you use the murphy bed, it will block the dresser in the morning. My son insisted on sleeping in that bed since his sister had a bed coming out of a wall (ceiling). The first morning we realized that all of our clothes were in the dresser at the end of the bed. It's more of a cabinet than dresser and the doors swing out. We had to hold the bed up to get to them! We made sure and got out our clothes the night before after that.

We were quite pleased with the room. Say hello to it for us when you go!!

Excellent! We have never had a "unhappy" time with all our vacations with Mickey and his helpers and hearing everyone's pieces of thier own magical vacations only reinforces the great times we are looking foward to enjoy.

All thats left now is count the days!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Gigashadow, as a point of interest the former Studio 54 is now home to Broadway's Cabaret!

The Deck Party on the Goofy Pool is awesome....everyone should go out & enjoy it. The other ships @ Nassau ( Carnival, Royal Caribbean) were watching us party on Deck 9. The party was still going as the ship left Nassau for Castaway Cay. Can't wait to go back!!!
