I just saw on the website, the Goofy is now full. The full is still open and the 1/2 still shows 65% full.

I saw and I'm still waiting to see if they got my registration in time.
I mailed it almost 2 weeks ago for the DVC discount.
Grrr...... the check hasn't cleared so it's not looking good:sad1:

I think Robert has an email address (ultramickeymouse) that you can email to ask if they have you in the system.

I didn't get any confirmation and my check didn't clear for quite a while for the ToT race and I emailed to find out if I was in the system. So email them to give you peace of mind. I would think that after 2 weeks they would have you in.

Good luck

DisneySports@Emmi.com is who to email :)

I would figure you are safe mailing it in 2 weeks ago. I know a lot of peoples CC just hit this week.

I emailed them yesterday...I got kicked out of active.com just as I was entering my cc number for payment. When I went back in to complete my transaction, I got the "event is full" message.

They must have a way to allot spots for registrations in transit...didn't they offer additional registrations through travel packages last year?

For 2008, Anthony Travel had a package --- included your disney resort room and entry to the goofy, marathon or half, which ever you preferred. I can't remember the exact details or when it sold out -- but I do know you could have registered for the race in the summer through Anthony Travel. A few of the resorts they offered included Grand Floridian, Polynesian & Boardwalk- those are all I recall, when I looked at it alot of the resorts were already booked.

At some point the Disney marathon website will incorporate a list of alternate registration options--whether through travel companies or non-profits.

I registered for the goofy in sept last year through anthony travel. It gave me option for one of the all stars at $90/night or CBR for $150/night - 3 night minimum. The prices were crap, IMO. But I really wanted to do the race, so I was stuck with it.

Good luck Liz and Darcey :)

I registered for the 2008 Goofy via Marathon Tours & Travel in Boston; everything went smoothly. In addition to the race fees, you have to book and pay for rooms through Marathon Tours; 3-night minimum (Pop was $100/night for Single). You do receive a $5 discount for both races. Three weeks prior to race weekend I received a hotel voucher in the mail; I just handed it over at Pop upon check-in; no problems at all.

Happy Training

Dang....there are a lot of Goofy people out there!

I would say that you all inspire me, but I think you might actually scare me. :rotfl:

Hope everyone that wanted to got signed up!

Laura

Emailed them twice now with no response yet :(
I'm hoping that I don't have to do a package deal because
I want to stay at my DVC (Beach Club)!
Thanks for the info and good luck wishes :)
I'll keep you posted!

I WISH all of you who mailed, got in then. I wonder why they don't open up more registrations?

M'Lisse and I went to hear John Hughes (Race Director) speak at the expo this past year. He spoke about this. In spite of the high demand for the Goofy, he said that the medical people have regulated the growth of the Goofy due to safety concerns. Initially, the medical folks discouraged the Goofy entirely.

Hi everyone. I wanted to relay my story for going Goofy.

DW (Cam) sent in our registrations with copies of our DVC cards a couple of weeks ago. She had signed me up for the Family 5K and the Marathon. She mailed it in.

Last week, Honeibee's DH (Charlie) pressured me into running the "Half Marathon" which made my weekend of relative relaxation (with just the 5K and marathon) a GOOFY!

So I had to backpedal to get the registration switched over to 5K and Goofy. It wasn't easy especially with it filling up so fast. I called and left two phone messages for Steve at Disney Sports and also emailed him. I decided to complete the Goofy application and get it in the mail ASAP so I didn't miss the deadline. I included a note about my predicament and mentioned my previous calls. In the mean time, Steve left me a phone message to just send in an application for the half marathon and he'd just enter me for Goofy and charge me the incremental difference. Unfortunately I got the message too late.

Then today I received a call from Steve saying he got my Goofy application and asked where we had left off in our discussion. He said he tried to look for my 5K and Marathon registration in the system but it wasn't there. I mentioned it was a DVC registration and it was mailed in. He said there was a whole stack of those not entered in the system and that he would find my original and simply register me for the 5K and Goofy and not to worry about it. He said I would only be charged the proper fee and I would not lose anything. I asked him to assure me that I am in for Goofy and he said "everything was in-house so that won't be a problem."

So, I am definitely going Goofy. I am very pleased Disney Sports worked with me to straighten this out and get me registered.

Knowing that there are plenty to be entered into their system should be a relief for some of you wondering. I hope it turns out well for all of you!

I wonder why they don't open up more registrations?

In addition to the health concerns, I would also speculate that it is in part financial. With 4000 Goofy registrations, that is approximately 25% of the marathon and half marathon to the "same" people. I would guess that if not for the Goofy Medal/recognition, not as many would sign up for both races. The more "different" people registering for the half v. full means more people participating and more people/families staying at, eating in and buying park tickets for Disney.

I haven't received any confirmation yet, but our cc was charged on Feb 1. DH and I mailed in DVC forms, one for half and one for full.

Ours was mailed in as DVC, too. I wonder if they take into account the stack waiting to be submitted... My check has not been cashed yet, but we're doing the half. :surfweb:

I would strongly assume that's the case... otherwise, why bother with mail in registrations at all??? :confused3 :confused3

I wonder if part of the reason they keep such a controlled number on Goofy entries (and thus fills early) has anything to do with the numbers of new racers that Disney seems to attract.

Since Goofy is such a big challenge, even for the most verteran of runners, I think it's not a bad thing that it closes so early.... this way not only do folks have the opportunity to train a whole year for it, but you would really have to know about the Goofy and really what it entails before jumping in.....

In any case, I sure hope everyone that mailed in applications and got the postmarked before they closed it get in!!! :thumbsup2

You and I are in the same boat!! I mailed mine in a day or two after you (DVC with check) so I will let you know if/when my check clears if you will do the same. That way we can kind of know what is going on.

I want to email them to see if they got it but don't want to be overly annoying and also want to give them time to get through the stack.

Who would have thought that less than a month after registration being open we would all be in a slight panic?? It's almost entertaining. :rotfl:
