What happens if you don't meet the pacing requirement of 16 min but still finish the marathon and half? Or with C2C- finish the 2nd race over the allotted time.

If you start in an early corral but get injured or are running with an injury so you end up much slower than expected, you could still finish both courses, but not in the official pace time.

Do you still get Goofy? C2C? Or do they check the times in the tent before they give you the medal?

(I'm not running Goofy- just had the conversation earlier with a friend and wasn't sure what the answer was! And figured same question applies to C2C)

TIA! :wave2:

Finish the race, get race medal and C2C or Goofy medal. No time requirements to worry about.

From what I understand, of course I can't find the link now, but you must finish the half in 3:30 and the full in 7 hours to get the goofy medal.

There was no checking with my 2011 or 2012 Goofy races or my 2011 C2C. :confused3

Yea, as I was researching I found a blog and the author said that he didn't make the time for the half, but at the end of the full, the volunteer saw his Goofy bib and gave him a Goofy medal.

I went and checked out the finishing times for 2012 and it does look like there are some late finishers that are listed at Goofy finishers. Looks like they make it like all the races- as long as you don't get swept, you get the Goofy.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, there is no checking of times. There should be.... not for those who have have helped a friend through the half and ended up with a 3:40 in the half. But for those who just run the full and are awarded a Goofy. I read a blog that a guy had up last Feb noting that he was injured and decided to run just the full. He was happy to find that as he walked past the Goofy medal area they pulled him aside to award him the medal. He thought he earned it. He has sense pulled the blog down.

Ugh, that's very wrong

They should check that you did both (preferably in the time limits)

I pointed it out to the folks at EMMI. At a minimum, one should complete both races. I also personally believe that one should finish both under the limit since Disney puts a lot of effort in telling us that is the expectation.

Isn't that what they used to do, why we had to get a new Goofy wrist band after we finished the half? I always thought that was a good way to make sure people finished the races on time.

I did not like the bands, but it worked. Plus, it was cool to watch folks point at the band when they noticed.

Yeah, it was like a secret handshake when you walked around on Saturday night. Everyone would give that knowing smile and nod. :cool1:

Ya know after I saw yesterday that they don't check times, i was kinda knocked for a loop. I've been training my butt off because I was under the impression I had to finish in time. That was my motivation. But to find out they'll just give the medals to anyone with a goofy bib? Shocked, disappointed, I don't know what to say.

I guess rundisney feels that anyonw who attempts their races and pays the high priced entry fees deserves the finisher medal. There was a huge discussion about those who were swept at the Princess and got the medal anyway. I would not want the medal if I did not earn it, but that is just me. Also training for the Goofy and working hard just like you. Happy Training!

Don't get too off course here.... You must finish the full to get the medal. That is the one thing that must occur.

We explored the pay a fee get a medal mentality of Disney on another thread. If you flag the full, you will get the full medal but are dropped off the bus at a point where you cannot swim back up to the Goofy Medal tent.

And of course, there is a chance that someone will figure out that the handout system has a fatal flaw.
