Hi all,

I have just come off the phone to DVC but they can't help me, My dear wife and I are thinking about doing the goofy challenge next year and dvc give a discount, i would like to know what the discount is.

Can anyone help?
:cool1:

I'm sorry, but what is the Goofy Challenge?

The goofy challenge happens in January, you have you have to do a half marathon on the Saturday (13.1 miles) followed by a full marathon on the Sunday (26.? miles) on the Sunday, do you fancy it?:lovestruc

26.2 if you want to be more precise. Thats why they give you a Goofy medal if you do both.

We just bought into DVC and I haven't consistently found the race applications on the member site. I usually get them from the disneyrunning site. I did however find this application on the dvcmember site. It's under member privileges/member perks/recreation/endurance events/2009 marathon.

Good luck in the goofy. I did it the inaugural year and my husband just did it this year.

Yes, Robert's site is great for all disney running info. But you better hurry and get your race application in since the goofy is already 65% full.

Ummm..noo..I was thinking maybe a brisk walk would be Goofy. I do have a friend who is thinking about training for a Half Marathon at DL. I will cheer her on eating my quiche at La Brea Bakery :)

Good Luck with the Goofy!! I wanted to apply for the Mickey Full Marathon but I've only just about recovered from the London Marathon in April 07 - severe shin splints with near fracture on the left leg have meant serious rest, physio and NO RUNNING (acupuncture was sheer bliss and worked for me too!)!!

Will build up the training slowly and be ready to register for 2010...I'm itching to get running again and get on the campaign trail for charity too (raised almost £4000 by completing the marathon)

When does registration traditionally open for this? I thought I'd do it in '09 but was disappointed to see that the registration is already FULL!!

How many runners do they allow?

Are there any sites you can recommend for training tips on this particular form of insanity?

Thanks!

The day after the current race, I believe. It does fill quickly.

4,000 IIRC.

I used Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham, and all the great advice and encouragement found on the DIS Events and Competition forum: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=109

Good luck!

I will check the book out and aim for 2010.

Does the book have specific advice on training for back to back like that or just for marathon?

I don't think it will give specifics about back-to-back races. But, if you use it to build up to your first marathon in 15 - 18 months then use what you've learned on your own to prepare for Disney, you'll be in pretty good shape.

If I completed the Goofy, I'd definitely want that cute Goofy medal. JMHO.

You can still enter for 09 through group rates. You have to book a room for 3 nights and then you can get the goofy entry. It is (or will be soon) on the wide world of sports website.

Good luck!
