We are doing Goofy’s Kitchen for our daughter’s 6th birthday on the first night of our trip, the same day we drive in (we live approx 4 hour drive away). I booked 5:35pm but am wondering about how long can we expect to spend there? We ordered a birthday celebration cake (albeit overpriced lol), will they sing happy birthday? We have never done character dining so just a bit unsure what to expect! Appreciate any insight :)

We did this for our son's birthday last week and only told them about his birthday when we checked in. When we checked in we got to take the photo with Goofy but then had to wait ~30 minutes for a table to become available for us. They ended up giving him a cupcake and singing happy birthday to him before the end of the meal. I'm not sure you really even need the cake since half the food there are desserts.

So they did happy birthday etc without needing to order the cake? Sounds great to me! lol

Check in at the reception desk, and they will send you to the line to meet Goofy and get a photo, then wait for your table.
We were there last week and heard them singing Happy Birthday to a few people during our meal, so yes, if they know they'll sing (the wait staff not characters).
Once we were seated (which yes took 20 to 30 minutes and was very chaotic), we were there about an hour. Had 3 boys who eat a lot, they got all they wanted to eat in that time, we saw Pluto and Chip, and a couple of the 'wave your napkin' dances. We saw Minnie but she didn't come to our table in that time.
Hope your 6 year old has a great birthday!!

Thanks so much for this reply!! I switched to a 510pm reservation and hoping since it’s early, we won’t have much of a wait. Our three year old would make that challenging 😂

We haven't had much of a wait when we go to Goofy's. Maybe 10 minutes, if that. It must depend on the day and time. We've celebrated a few birthdays there and they always bring a cupcake and sing Happy Birthday. We've spent between 60-90 minutes there depending on the visit. Have a great time!

You'll have a great time! Goofy's Kitchen dinner is a great experience, especially with a birthday.

We've had a lot of success booking the earliest reservation at 4:00 pm. They don't always offer dinner this early all year, but usually during the summer, weekends, and holidays. I realize 4:00 might be too early for most people, but we come from the central time zone and it's always worked out really well (with it being 6:00 at home). It's usually never crowded during the early 4:00 seating and there's less people in the restaurant so we get a bit more character interaction. By the time we leave, the restaurant is typically packed.

I also agree with 60-90 minute estimate for the experience. You can take the monorail back to DL after!

We are going in January so I think the earliest was 5pm.. we got 5:10 so I’m hopeful it isn’t super busy yet! We are staying on Harbor, what’s the best way to get there? Should we drive over, or just walk across and through DTD?

We typically just walk through Downtown Disney. You do have to go through security, which isn't ideal, but it's often not a huge hassle that time of day. Allow yourself 20-30 minutes to be safe. Maybe they'll have a table ready early if you arrive closer to 5:00.
