Since the economy is really in the gutter, I'm coming to the conclusion that I really won't be able to do welcome bags, but will be doing welcome folders of info. The welcome bags that I've made are just going to the attendants in the wedding. Oh and I will do bags for all kids at the wedding. But just not everyone else. (about 35 other people)

1. Is anyone else running into this?

and

2. I'm doing personalized Yankee Candles for favors - with the money I'll save from not doing the welcome bags, I want to put more to the favors. Any suggestions for add ons? :confused3

We were originally going to do welcome bags as well but had picked some pretty pricey things to put in them... just like you with the economy we're cutting back and probably won't do this. We've talked about purchasing the refillable mugs for each of our guests and leaving these for them with the welcome folder. I think they're still like $12 each but we think our guests will get a lot of use out of them since we'll all be there for atleast a week. There's only 15 of us though. It was one of the things we were going to put in our bags and we're just going to cut out the rest.

If you are doing bags for kids, Dollar Tree had tons of Disney stuff - 3 packs of cards for $1, stamp kits for $1, etc.

Don't worry bout not doing them. They are nice but not nessacary and half the time people don't even use the stuff.

YOUR favors rock. Yankee candles are the best!

Hi Meg, I just wanted to stop by and say I'm sorry the sucky economy is affecting your plans too. It sounds like you came up with a good compromise though! :thumbsup2 You know I love the personalized Yankee Candle idea. I LOVE Yankee Candles! I'll keep my eye open for things you might add, and PM you if I can find something special! :)

We saw some of the mousekeeping staff at SSR with some nice canvas bags from a wedding(had names/date on them). This was last yr over Thanksgiving.

I felt sorry for whoever spent the time and money over them.

I am not doing welcome bags. I just thought it would be too much of a pain to deliver them to the resorts and all.

Nobody will miss them. :lmao:

Maybe you can get a nice candle holder to go with the candles. I have seen several silver or crystal ones that were very nice on various wedding favor sites.

Just wanted to chime in and say we skipped welcome bags too. I didn't want to spend hours running all over WDW delivering them and then have to check to be sure everyone got one, track down the missing ones, etc. Especially since, as others have noted, half the time people don't even use what's in them.

Unless your guests have been to a LOT of destination weddings, they won't even know what they're missing! :thumbsup2

Aww see that is so sad lol.

When talking about our VR, I'll sometimes show someone's thread to DH and if catches a glimpse of a welcome bag, his comment is always "Look goodies for Mousekeeping!"

I've been to a few desitination weddings and I've never gotten a welcome bag, usually it's a gift basket of fruit, cookies and munchies to snack on when you are in the room.
