Goodbye Main Street Bakery....

No, they are not saying msb will be "replaced" by starbucks. That is false.

And you must be joking to call msb a mom and pop bakery. That is absurd. Lol.

I did not call MSB a mom and pop bakery. I was simply comparing main street to a nostalgic town. You see all mom and pop type stores, then a Starbucks moves in. I just don't want to see a Starbucks. Which is what they are stating it will be. They have said the bakery will close and "reopen as a Starbucks".Everyone on here needs to really check themselves before posting. The comments are rude, condescending and obnoxious.

I thought I'd mention that the DCA Starbucks locations, does in fact sell the DISNEY Cinnamon Rolls/Buns that everyone is so worried about "losing"

I just find this outrage to be so completely asinine. I have been to Disney 42 times since Dec. 1971. I have been through every possible change and seen many of my favorite rides from childhood disappear. And you know something, it's OK. My memories come from the activity at the time and the people I was with. When things change, I create a new memory and remember fondly the old ones.

I just can't imagine being so emotionally attached to any one thing in a theme park that I'd cancel trips, sign useless petitions, cry, whine, etc.

Can you show me where you're getting your information? The Disney statement clearly states MSB is closing for refurbishment. It actually says no where that it's closing permanently. :confused3 Rides get refurbished all the time at WDW, but they come back the same ride!

The bakery is going to be closed in January. That's what the blog post in the link said. Didn't give specific dates, though.

Well, will hope for 2014. :)

I'm emotionally attached to my Frappuccino Cup. :rotfl2: I'd be back to WDW faster is Mickey's Ears became the Starbucks symbols. :lmao:

I agree. Memories are, for me, about the people involved. The rest is just a prop.

:thumbsup2 No offence to anyone but if your WDW memories revolve around the MSB, what else were you doing for the other 8-14 hours of your day in the parks? :lmao: All my memories of WDW are not about my coffee or breakfast croissant.

I'm not going to freak out yet. I have faith Disney will do this right and SB will just be incorporated into MSB. I will be interested to see how this is done. :scratchin

But none of those are actually from Disney. They are blogs online written by someone with little or no connection to Disney whatsoever. :confused3 MSB will remain MSB with a Starbucks inside.

You do realize how old that article is correct? I realize it is Starbucks press release, but I still don't see where it says "Starbucks is replacing Main Street Bakery. They talk about what they are going to do to the new Starbucks location (simply meaning, where it is going to be served) in DL and we have ALL seen pictures how it is NOT a Starbucks!

EXACTLY!!!! Get a grip people!!

This thread seems to be more than done.

“We know food and beverage offerings are an important part of the memories our guests make at Disney Parks and now they will be able to enjoy their favorite Starbucks® beverage as part of their experience,” said Maribeth Bisienere, vice president, food and beverage line of business for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “Many of our guests have shared their passion for Starbucks with us, and we look forward to making their feedback a reality as we debut the first location at Disney California Adventure.”

Huh, it sounds like they "get it"

I actually agree that the thread is done. There are too many people on here that are attacking the situation (on both sides). I posted that I was sad about the change and asked if anyone remembered McDonald's and all I have done since yesterday is defend every little thing I have said. I don't believe the change will ruin my memories, nor do I believe that Starbucks is the devil spawn. I just feel that aesthetically, it is a bad choice. Whether it's a bakery from the outside and a Starbuck's inside. It's a Starbucks. It would be nicer if they put it in Tomorrowland or something...that's all.

Ummmmm no :confused3 can you explain it again to me? And again? And then again? :rotfl2:

I've made similar comments. When Big Thunder Mountain was refurbished, it didn't re open as the Men in Black Ride to Universal did it? :confused3

How's this:

Old sign, before refurb: "Main Street Bakery"

New sign, after refurb: "Main Street Bakery (featuring Starbucks)"

In DIsneyland, Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café was given the Starbucks makeover. It's still called Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café

Here's a tour. Yes, the word Starbucks appears on the side of the building.

Would Tim Hortons have been better received and applauded? :confused3

Me thinks so. ::yes::

My guess is that some view SB as an evil empire...conquering it's way over every street corner, bookstore, airport, grocery chain, hospital, etc.

Btw - I've never had TH, but several of my FB friends rave about how much better it is.
