Good Webcam Deal - OfficeMax

My local OfficeMax has this Microsoft LifeCam VX-700 for $6.99 instore. They are part of a Christmas gift display.

I got one for DH who has an older laptop with Windows XP OS. We plugged it in last night and signed up for Skype and this morning we were talking to each other via webcam. It works great, has a built in mic, and no software needed. Anyone can plug it in and use it (if we can figure it out).

Can I ask how much skype is? DD is pregnant and in pa, so I was thinking of getting her one so we can keep up with the baby.

The Skype is free. You just need an email address. My DS, in college, directed me to that site for the webcam. I think he and his girlfriend keep in touch thru Skype. They also offer free instant messaging.

I posted in the hopes that other OfficeMax stores may have the webcams out in their gift areas, too, for that price.

Thanks! I'm going to go in the morning and hope they still have some. My DD in school has been after me to get one but I have no idea what to look for so I may as well go for inexpensive and since you say it works that's all I need!

So I have to look for a Christmas gift display.

In our store, there is a big cardboard multi-section display of Christmas gifts on the main walkway to the cash registers. You might ask if they have it, too. They should know right off.

I did some more searching online and I found this same product at the Amazon site for $69.91!

Hi mtblujeans: I just had to say thank you very much for the heads up on the webcam. You just became my Christmas Angel. Short story. My son, his wife and my grandkids moved to Texas from Florida in June. My husband was laid off and we had our house foreclosed on. We are coping with the layoff and the house just great. Missing the grandkids and new baby born last month, has us really down. Couldn't afford an expensive camera, but you posted this webcam offer and we went out the next day an got one. We just saw our new grandson for the first time tonight and I just had to let you know. We were able to see all the grandkids The two little girls were happy to see MawMaw and PawPaw.
