My local OfficeMax has this Microsoft LifeCam VX-700 for $6.99 instore. They are part of a Christmas gift display.
I got one for DH who has an older laptop with Windows XP OS. We plugged it in last night and signed up for Skype and this morning we were talking to each other via webcam. It works great, has a built in mic, and no software needed. Anyone can plug it in and use it (if we can figure it out).

Short story. My son, his wife and my grandkids moved to Texas from Florida in June. My husband was laid off and we had our house foreclosed on. We are coping with the layoff and the house just great. Missing the grandkids and new baby born last month, has us really down. Couldn't afford an expensive camera, but you posted this webcam offer and we went out the next day an got one. We just saw our new grandson for the first time tonight and I just had to let you know.
We were able to see all the grandkids
The two little girls were happy to see MawMaw and PawPaw. Again let me say thank you. Merry Christmas to you and yours, from some very happy Floridians. Diane
