Good Upscale Restaurants off-site

If you'd like a nice steak, Bull & Bear at the Waldorf Astoria is close and very good. The best steak in Orlando is probably at Christner's Prime Steak.

Luma on Park is great, but it is way up in Winter Park, where a lot of the best restaurants are. If you are willing to go that far, look at the Ravenous Pig, Cask & Larder, El Bodegon Tapas & Wine, and 4Rivers Smokehouse.

In the Dr Philips area I like Chatham's Palace and Ocean Prime. Seasons 52 is a chain, but does a nice job.

The Pointe Orlando has good chains Oceanaire Seafood and The Capital Grille. Good casual at the Pointe are Opa Taverna and Marlow's Tavern.

I did love the Mandarin Orange Cake at Del Frisco's, have not been there in many years (since it was Del Frisco's). Even though the food and service were always good, it just seemed old fashioned even then (to us). We have tried all but 4Rivers, we lived in NC for many years and have never found any BBQ better. Love The Ravenous Pig! (my children's favorite hands down) But, would not do it for an anniversary or special occ.

Always, looking for other good places. We always rent a car and are usually make a few trips every year.

Not "upscale" but The Columbia in Celebration has excellent food and the atmosphere is lovely.

I like it there too and was there this past weekend. I always get the same thing, rope vieja. Try the St. Armands location So much nicer, and for some reason the food seems better.

Now some of these eating places ...... seem way to expensive for most people.

So how about listing places with price range of $ 30 to $ 40 per person.

Errrr the thread stipulates high end, not low end??

I was looking through this site and found alot of recommendations for family restaurants, and good deals, but we want a more upscale place along the lines of Disney's signature dining. We have to cancel our trip that included Victoria and Albert's Chef Table dinner because hubby has to go to a conference in Orlando a few weeks earlier than our planned trip. Neither of us can be away from work twice within a month so we're going to make a mini-vacation out of the business trip. Since we will be down near Disney over our anniversary, I wanted a nice dinner together to celebrate and make up for missing Chef's Table. Where would you guys recommend for a special dinner?

Thanks!

This should be on most folks' bucket list.

I don't have a problem with the low, we try to stay away from the middle. Special for us is somewhere unique regardless whether we love the food or not, really just an experience. We have very differing views on our favorites among our group but we all agree to stay away from any restaurant we have at home regardless of whether it is wonderful or not.

This is how we are too. There are several place we enjoy that maybe a chain, but its not a chain we have in our area. We also try to stay away from middle places. What I like is Orlando has many more ethnic places than we have at home and they are usually reasonable and they also have some upscale places we don't have at home either. The great thing about the timing of our trip is we will be there for Orlando Magical Dining month and the food and wine!
