Good things about the quest...

I learned that there are some rather special people out there playing this game- who played 3 days straight letting others go through quest first!

I learned I have some wonderful and generous friends- who support me at all costs (well I sort of knew that about most of them before hand but well...)

I learned that I like opening treasure chests- I got 3 bronze keys in this quest endevor- something I had not done before (I also learned that my friends thought that my key excitement was humorous)

I learned that I sink really well.

I learned that if you end up having to work from 0630am to 0500am the next day and might miss getting through some quest tasks that your husband may just feel sorry enough for you to help out- even though he has decided that vmk has changed too much and frustrates him now.

I learned that when you have to work late night- that chatting to and cheering on your friends who are playing (when you can't) can be almost as much fun as playing- but a lot less frustrating than playing.

Oh and I also learned when you fretted over a quest for a few days and only have a few hours- that even though I haven't slept since Saturday night- I can't sleep with anticipation of missing my little vmk time and not finishing quest.

I guess I also learned how to play a few games of pirates and am no longer as fearful of the game as I was- but would still only want to play on friendly days... (some people are mean and crack shots- I can't compete there- no fun just being a duck if you never get credits)

I learned that beating the odds is pretty exhilarating

I learned that vmk has a tendancy to bring out the best and worst in people- and that you learn a lot about human nature when playing.

I learned that the trade price of a princess hat and some of the other stuff is outrageous too...

I'm sure I learned other stuff too- but well- I can't think anymore.

I learned that VMK wants you to cheat to win quests.

I learned that my DS13 is the moral upstanding young man I tried to raise him to be. He decided on his own that he would rather not do the quest than compromise his principles. I'm so proud of him.

I realized I HATE and am horrible at all of the games except Mansion. I realized how awesome my friends are and I couldn't ask for better friends. I also realized I have some new friends too! And I also thought it was really funny because the only new item I'm obsessing over is the new Umbrella....I'm in love with it! :lmao: :umbrella:

Mansion is my game. I am pretty good at it and enjoy mansion. After almost 10 hours of jungle cruise I learned mansion is still my game. lol. I seriously doubt if I'll ever play jungle again. Unless of course there is another quest requiring it. I was really stressing playing jungle. I really thought I wouldn't complete the quest. But persistence paid off, with two hundred over the required score. (Close)

Most importantly without some wonderful people who guided me through the pirate battle part I wouldn't of finished the quest. Thx team you rock. The team broke apart before everyone completed it. I hope you all made it. Some of you aren't on my list so don't know if you did. Good luck and thx again.

And sore behinds from sitting for hours....:rotfl2:

Oh yes!!!! :headache:

I learned that giving up doesn't solve anything. I almost gave up and great friends pushed me through! I also realised that my family is really great! My children helped for hours and hours to help their friends and mine. They cried when we lost and rejoiced when they won! I couldn't have asked for more.

All though yes, my but does hurt :surfweb:

I learned:

  • I have some awesome friends in VMK. I knew they were great, but I realize it more today.
  • My friends that I played with have so much patience, even the one who says she does not. ;)
  • There is always time to make a new friend. :)
  • I have more patience and endurance when it comes to games than I thought. :laundy:
  • I have the patience to help kids; even the rude ones.
  • VMK is fun and challenging once again.

Thank you for this quest VMK. :)

I learned there are many kind and generous people out there willing to help one another and work as a team

I learned that there are so many great people on the DIS boards I got the chance to meet and work together with

I learned never to skip class or put off homework to play an online game :lmao:

I learned there are more important things out there than winning a virtual quest for virtual items you can't even touch

:cloud9: I learned sometimes the impossible.. is possilbe! :)

:cloud9: I learned DIS people will go above and beyond to help eachother.

:cloud9: I learned I am pretty good at Jungle Cruise (LDE here I come!)

:cloud9: I learned, I get pretty bad headaches after a 30 hour quest.

:cloud9: I learned ... My friends look awesome in silver ears!

:cloud9: I learned you can get sick of the songs on your iPod.. after 30 hours.

I learned that sometimes I cant do it all alone and that I need to have people to help me to get what I want.

And this, my dear, may be the best lesson YOU could learn. So glad you finished. Sorry I had to work when you needed the help. :goodvibes

I learned the best strategy to form a team game on busy quest days so as not to hold up the lobby.

I learned my pirate anxiety came almost as much from worrying about dh response to being on the computer so much as from being at the bottom of a winners list...again...and again, and again. Thanks mickeysfriend and team for putting me in second on Monday before work!

I learned God gave dh more patience than I could imagine and he never said a word all weekend!

I learned more of who my true friends are vs. aquaintances, and also met some new great ppl.

I learned as much as I was frustrated for never getting my turn some days bc of groups disbanning when I had been with them for hours :hourglass before my turn or bc some ppl can't follow help suggestions (ok sometimes I was literally SHOUTING the suggestions in my head, I apologize if I came off rude) , it felt very relaxing /life back in perspective to let a friend or two go ahead of me when I knew they were even more frustrated. :flower3:

I learned what can be easy the first time around one day can take 4-5 frustrating tries the next morning after 3 days of little sleep... lesson being always get a good night's sleep before important real life activities/tests.

Thanks for the post.

LittleBelle, VirtuallyMe and Car - Reading your comments really touched my heart and brought back a flood of emotions. I totally understand everything you wrote and could not have said it better. :grouphug:

I learned that true friends will help till the very end eveny when you force them not too.

I learned that I as a person by making the effort to help others will benifit me in the long haul which means they'll always be there even when everyone else turns.

I learned that people make mistakes and the way to solve them is to overlook them and just keep moving forward.

I learned that redshoe can't get the gold cannons right but hey she learned. LOL sorry red :rotfl2:

Posted this elsewhere:

I learned, most of all, that my friends are worth far more than any virtual prize VMK could offer.

:lmao:

Ahh, but it's true. At least now I'm respectably sucky at pirates, instead of just being downright sucktastic! :cool1:

I LOVE this thread!

I've learned... that my mother can't seem to stop shooting even though I've told her countless times to STOP!

I've learned... that it's possible to want to "ill" your own mother :rolleyes1

I've learned... not to let Cruiselinefan start a battle game

I've learned... that it's possible to pass Jungle Cruise even though I couldn't see much of the screen with tears streaming down my face (but I did it!)

I've learned... that the little white letters on your keyboard can all be rubbed off from too much use (I have a q, z, c, v, f, and b left...)

I've learned... that I can go for a ridiculously long time without bathroom breaks

I've learned... that I can play pirates in my sleep

I've learned... that my friends are even more awesome than I could have imagined

I've learned... that Tiggerholic's ship doesn't have brakes!!!!

I've learned... that my sister totally stinks at pirates (oh wait... I already knew that) :rotfl2:

I've learned... that Aengus can be quiet when he really puts his mind to it!

I've learned... that VMK will always be.... well... VMK... :sad2:

I've learned... that the DIS community is made up of some VERY AMAZING people! Anytime I sent out a bulletin for help, people responded immediately. It blew me away!

I saw both sides of the coin during this quest..

I saw and felt the happiness of completing this/and the deep hurt of my friends that did not

I saw the team work even from ppl I barely knew/and I saw the greediness of ppl that didnt care about anyone but themselves

I saw those that had a plan and stuck to it/and I saw those younger that had no one to guide them

Maybe vmk had a purpose to this nightmare. Its the first time I saw friends and even strangers team up for a greater cause and push differences aside. Yes it was difficult but so is life sometimes but it shows you that if you lean on your friends a bit you can get thru hard times. Remember that outside of vmk to.

Thank you for this quest VMK. :)

I totally agree with you there on all those statements above :thumbsup2
(your statement patience to help kids; even the rude ones. )- :rotfl2: but you did do well there :)
Thank you dear friends :grouphug:

Well, I learned that your husband totally rocks at being the Designated Shooter! :thumbsup2

And I learned that I come across as a bossy drill sargeant when talking the "winners" through their shooting. :lmao: "Move!" (so they won't get Krakened in crucial moments) "Shoot at front or back so you don't ill anybody!", etc. ;)

Like Pink, I learned I could go without a bathroom break for a long time. As well as go without food. Or showers.

I learned that I bonded with friends over this "Lost Weekend", like other weekends in the past, during team ride contests. And with many of the same people, too! :grouphug:

I learned that I won't trust random strangers with no connection to my friends into my games. They are cruel and don't care about anyone but themselves.

And I learned one very important thing:

Make sure you've got the Quest up and running before attempting to pass a task! :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Woot our only adult male in our group protecting all us gals :) I say adult because we had a little kid who never had played pirates be a wonderful sitting duck .

Yes I miss the team build competitions. But If I had a choice between a quest that needed a team like this or room compeitions I would choose this quest. 1,000 got the loot a much higher %of any room competition.

And you did not wait endlessly for a host and then maybe weeks only to be let down again.

This time is was only 3.5 days of pain and torture quite an improvement. This way the let down was game after game :lmao:

And I wonder if any of the hosts will ever use the term doing a briar like they say he did a gracie gracie you may go down in disney history :):thumbsup2

Oh an on a side not the liitle boy who never played pirates enjoyed himself so much said to his mummy the next day I want to go play real pirates now :)

So at least one person was keen to get right in there after the battle to him Quest #16 was really fun :)
