You need to use broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) and use physical block such as titanium dioxide & zinc. Oxybenzene is a dangerous chemical that soaks into our skins, and it doesn't necessarily block rays that well either. Avobenzene/Parsol, as mentioned above is ranked well for both sun protection and harmful chemicals.
Do you really use a zinc sunblock on your kids? I can't imagine having my kids running around at the beach all white! My dermatologist and I were talking about sunscreens, he admitted the physical block was the best, but he said he doesn't even use it on his kids because they would look so funny. We like Bullfrog or California Baby around here.
