Hi Everyone
I know there are a lot of stroller threads out there and I am just wanting some suggestions on good and sturdy but lightweight strollers for my almost 40 lb 4 yo??? We took a Combi Stroller last year and it coming apart, it was actually coming apart by the end of the week at WDW....so I am wanting a good sturdy lightweight stroller? I almost bought a Maclaren last year, now I am thinking I should have? Thanks everyone:thumbsup2

I had a combi and hated it. No one wanted to push it. It was very cheaply made. We bought a Maclaren Volo a couple of years ago and what a great sturdy stroller it is. I holds up to 55 pounds and pushes like a dream. Definately get a Maclaren.

That's what I was going to recommend. My sister has one and loves it ... I tried one out using my 10 y.o. granddaughter (60-ish bls) as the passenger and it pushed like a dream.

It's on my "to buy for Disney" list.

I have a MClaren also, not sure of what model though. My youngest is 4 and at 46lbs, so he is pushing the limits on strollers. We only use it at Disney but I have a feeling our June trip will be the last one with a stroller, he is just getting to BIG. I had someone tell me that you can rent strollers at Disney on a weekly basis at a good rate, does anyone know? I know you can rent them daily but it seems a little pricey but someone told me they rented for a week and got a great deal, I am going to look into it this trip. Good Luck!

Just bought a Combi, and am returning it. It is light but beyond that, it is flimsy and once the wheels got the slightest bit of dirt on them (one trip to the store) it does not push well at all. <sigh> I really thought this would do it for us.

Biting the bullet and buying the Maclaren, just have to decide which one. Would really like the recline feature. . . on at least on eof them, yes, I need 2!

Strollers are $10 a day to rent at the parks. There is a discount if you rent for length of stay (or a week or length of stay? you pay $8 a day then) ransfer parks. Meaning getting 2 hot sticky tired kids back to resort or car is not gonna be pretty . Not sure of double stroller rental cost? $20/$18 maybe?

For a ten day trip, even with discount, you are talkng $80? I'll buy and have the convenience of it at the airport, at the resort, etc. I think

I love my maclaren quest. It goes to 55 lbs and was well worth it.

Check the sites. you can buy last years fabric on sale a lot cheaper. The year of the stroller doesn't mean anything.

I wish I had gotten the red/black one last year but I ended up with green/beige

I paid full price last year. They shipped fast and free.

I love, love, love my Maclaren Quest!!!! :goodvibes I bought it just before we went in Dec. '04 and use it still constantly for my 4.5 old DD who just loves to ride in it :rotfl: It'll be making it's 3rd Disney trip this August :)

We also just purchased a Maclaren Quest and LOVE it! We purchased it for our 2 year old, but our 5 year old fits perfect in it and still sooo light to push!

I just bought a MacLaren Volo. I was a little hesitant about the price, but decided that it would be a good decision. I originally bought for our upcoming trip for DS3 but decided to start using it last Saturday on a trip to a rather large mall. Well, I'm really glad that I bought it now. DS3 walked the entire time while DS7 and 58lbs rode the whole way. The seat had enough room for him and it pushed like a dream. It was expensive, but wow! I can't wait to use it at Disney! I highly recommend it!!

I also just bought a Volo (McLaren) for our June trip to WDW. DD is 42lbs & about 44" tall...I normally don't use a stroller anymore when we are at home but I find it's helpful when we travel at WDW & through airports & such. Our last stroller was ruined by the airline upon checking it at the gate (word of warning...if you plan on doing that make sure you still put it in a case or bag...they dropped ours in oil & the grease will not come out & they won't pay for it...) so I got the Volo. It was very easy to assemble...all I had to do was attach the sun hood...upon a test drive my DD said it was comfy & she seemed to like it. You really can't get a better rated stroller for the older/taller kids without spending the $$...good luck!

Also...I looked at the Triumph, which does recline (the VOLO does not), but the seat seemed smaller because of the stiff back necessary for the recline feature. The stiff back also made it more cumbersome & it's also 3 lbs heavier (12 as opposed to Volo's 9lbs). I had originally intended to get the triumph, but changed my mind at the store when I saw how stiff it was. I think the Volo is more comfy because the nylon back of the seat is kind of hammock-like in that it has some give.

I have to agree with most of the others and say get a Mac. We have a quest and love it. Ds it still small but it is wonderful. go to babies r us, they have them all and you can test drive them to see which model suits your family best. We got our quest on sale from all be baby, it was a 2006 model. We have the Mac 3 jogger also and that is wonderful, I think that Maclaren is worth the money. Happy shopping!:goodvibes
