Hello all!

I don't usually hang out on the dining boards much, but I have a STEAK dinner question for all of you pros! My DH has asked me to book a ressie for a nice steak dinner, but I really have no idea where to start. I've looked at the menus here on the DIS, but I don't see anything that really jumps out at me. DH is definitely just a steak and potato kind of guy, without all the frufru side dishes. I'm not too much into steak, but can do with soup, salad, fish, or pasta. Any suggestions? We are going in July, and this is the first year that BOTH my DDs are old enough to go to the kid's club. We'd like to enjoy our first "grown up" Disney dinner in about 10 years. Helpppp!!!!

P.S. DH has mentioned Shulas, Le Cellier, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. Do any of these really trump the others, or are they all comparable?

My hubby is a steak man and usually orders them wherever we are .... his favorite at WDW is from Flying Fish, the NY Strip is out of this world. We have been there three times and he said it was incredible each time.

We go to Shula's here locally and it is always great.

BlueZoo has a to die for filet as does Le Cellier and Citrico's wins for the most unique filet with an Italian flair...they were amazing.

Where he will not go again is Jiko and Yachtsman....he said the steak was not good at all

We did not like Yachtsmen, either. We always get a great steak at LeCellier. The filet or the strip is great!

DH asked me the same thing last trip. He loved the strip steak at Le Cellier (even thought it was DS's entree!). Best steak we had was a special at Artist Point, not sure how long they have/had it.

DH also had the steak at Flying Fish. He liked it but not as much as the one at Le Cellier.

As a filet girl, it is a toss up for me between the Mushroom Filet at Le Cellier and the Mac & Cheese Filet at Jiko.

Reviews of our meals are in the link below if it will help you at all!

This may have been the buffalo strip steak, which was fabulous! Sadly, I believe that has been taken off the menu (unless it has come back since Feb 2009, last time I was there).

To the OP: The filet with mac and cheese at Jiko is awesome! Good steaks can also be found on the menu at Flying Fish and California Grill. Shula's and Yachtsman Steakhouse are both steakhouses, each of which has several good steaks.

haven't been to some of the pp ones mentioned but 2 of the best steak meals I had last time were at Le Cellier and Kona !! Le Cellier was sooo good!

We like Le Cellier, Jiko and Yachtsman for the steaks.

We had the filet mignon at all 3 and it is yum. The whole meal favourite was probably Yachtsman. But this September we are going to Le Cellier and Jiko again.:thumbsup2

Shula's is very good. We have never had a bad steak at Yachts. St or Le Cellier. I would recommend all of them.

No, that wasn't on the menu. We were there 12/26 and they had a Kobe steak as a special that night. It was the most amazing steak we've ever had.

Another nod to Le Cellier. We eat there twice every trip. I always get the NY Strip & my wife always gets the Filet. Easily my favorite steak in the parks (we don't venture out to Shula's, Flying Fish, etc.).

Atmosphere will ultimately be the deciding factor between those 3 restaurants. And then availability will be another. I have heard the Shula's in particular is a pleasant surprise. But your expectations are least likely to be undershot by going to Le Cellier.

I've read over and over again that Shula's, Le Cellier, and Yachtsman are the best. I've only been to Le Cellier and was quite happy there.

Shula's is a chain, so you might want to go to one when you are at a different vacation stop instead of Disney.

Thank you all so much-I appreciate your comments! I think we're going to try booking at Shulas or LeCellier. We stayed at the Dolphin last year, and DH said that he really wanted to dine at Shulas. It was so quiet (the week of July 4th), I imagine it would be easier to get a table there than at LeCellier.

We love Le Cellier. The NY strips were the best steaks we have ever had. If your DH loves potatoes, they have cream cheese mashed pototes to die for. Le Cellier is also much cheaper/1 TS credit vs 2 TS credits than the others (may not be a factor for you, but we are forever trying to save a buck, especially after spending the money it takes to be at Disney.)

My husband loved it so much he said he wanted to eat here once a day on our next trip. I doubt that will fit our schedule, but those steaks were awesome. We had our anniversary dinner on Jan 9th at a local steak place where we live. We wound up comparing our steaks to those at Le Cellier (and they were good, but didn't match up to Le Cellier's!)

(FYI - we had steak at the Turf Club @ SSR and Grand Floridian Cafe - both were good if you happen to be dining there.)

Have a great trip and enjoy your steak.

The Strip at Yachtsman or the fillet at Cali Grill. Both amazing!

I totally have to AGREE! We actually ate at Kona's twice last year, and got the teriyaki (sp) steak both times. :lovestruc

PS: Sometimes I dream about that steak!:rolleyes1

I love a good steak. I've had the filet or tenderloin at many of the places I've eaten at Disney.

My 2 favorite have been Yachtsman Steakhouse and Narcoossee's.

The only steak I didn't like was at Jiko... But...we ate at Jiko just months after it first opened. And back then, they served it with some sort of Pesto sauce on top...and it was horrible. They have since modified their menu and no longer serve it that way.

100% shula's for us. your husband will love it without a doubt. the food is awesome not to mention it's all football threw out the resteraunt. it was so good when we were there, that my 16 year old son has recently said he doesn't want a graduation party next year when he graduates from high school he just wants to fly to shula's for dinner. :rotfl:
