Hi,
DH needs new shoes and the only shoe store around here has closed leaving our choices limited to online or department stores like Kohls or Macy's. He's used to Rockport Walkers, but we wouldn't know where to find them or what is similar. If anyone has info, that would be great. DH teaches high schools and is on his feet all day, so he needs good support. Thanks! :goodvibes

Dansko makes men's shoes. I know several nurses that swear by those!

Dansko:lovestruc:worship: You can not go wrong with these. He may need longer pants. They will give him 2 more inches;)

Also, Dr. Martens makes mens' loafers :thumbsup2

I teach high school too and usually wear high heels ;)

He's already 6'3", but more height would probably scare the kids more - good thing! I'd probably find it quite attractive too. ;)

How about ordering some from zappos or shoes dot com?

Dh has "bad feet" and swears by Born shoes. Check out Zappos.

Zappos is great. If you order them now, they will be here tomorrow. Free! If they don't fit? Send them back. Free!

I just got some Rebook shape up type shoes because they are SO comfortable. He might want to try something like these. They have a lot of padding and cushion in the soles so they would be good to wear all day. I doubt the "shape up" part works but these are REALLY comfortable shoes.

I've had good luck with SAS shoes. Don't know if they are available nation wide or not. (San Antonio Shoe Company.)

I teach elementary spec. ed and I'm on my feet constantly. The best shoes I've ever worn are Sketcher's Shape Ups. They don't shape a thing, but I can stand without my back muscles going into spasms for the entire day. I am having a bit of pain right now, but I did absolutely nothing all summer this year- I went on strike and refused to do any classes lol- so I'm paying for all that down time now. I bought a pair that looked like tennis shoes/sneakers last year. This year I bought the solid black ones so the principal won't realize they're not "real" shoes lol.

Thanks Clarabelle and what a lovely picture of that baby!

Thanks. :) He loves getting his haircut at the barber shop on Main Street!

Good luck on your shoe search. We don't have that problem - DH has to wear combat boots. (I don't think he would recommend them for standing all day if you have a choice of something more comfortable though!)

Just remember with a Dansko type shoe that they need to be broken in for a few weeks before wearing them for a full day!!! Has he tried support socks?

Probably not, but I'm sure there will be days at the high school when some smart mouth makes him wish he could have some of your husband's equipment. :lmao:
