And I don't think D23 is exactly what I'm looking for........ at least at the current price point. I was catching up on some old shows and in the 1/15(or 16) of 2008 show Kevin mentioned a DVD that was very interesting, but I did not catch the title. I'm interested in the historical stuff in addition to the parks so if anyone has recommendations on books, DVDs, websites, etc......please share. Thanks for the help!

I read an amazing book by Bob Thomas called Walt Disney: An American Original and it is about Walt's life, how he started the company, and his ideas on Disneyland. It's a really great book, I keep going back to read it over again because there is so much in it and it is just so fascinating to me!

Hope this helped! :thumbsup2

There are alot of good books out there, I'm not at home so I don't know the names off hand, but some are really good about Walt and Disney's history. There is a really good one about Walt's brother Roy Disney, I think it's called "Building a Company." I'm not sure about the DVD that was mentioned, it might have been the History Channel's Modern Marvels. It's an excellent two hour show about how the Disney parks were built. You can buy the DVD on their website. I'm not aware of any other history type DVD's.

If you are really a history buff, all of their back issues are scanned into CD-ROM. The Jantzen brothers had unprecendented access to the men and women of Disney Legends. There are in depth articles on everything Disneyland and just amazing insight into Imagineering with interviews featuring the most influential names in Walt's business. Marc Davis was a favorite and they have on of the last interviews he gave before his death. Roger Broggie, Ward Kimball, Rolly Crump, Herb Ryman - the list just goes on and on.

It is one of my favorite resources on Disneyland, too.

Keep in mind they are dissolving the magazine and the business, so get these CDs while you can.
