Good signCanada is getting ready

If one wants to speculate, one can HOPE that they are waiting to see what changes Canada is planning overall further testing strategy when it comes to immigration. I just assume here that if they knew things would remain status quo they would be able to update already. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking for me That they will soon end their PCR requirement to enter the country and random testing

I also think that the DCL has an edge up here compared to other cruise lines and the fact that they already have a system in place to PCR test at port before embarkation. Other cruise lines will have to adjust if they need to either accept or do PCR testing themselves

They do...at US ports. That business model may or may not transition easily to a Canadian port. At the very least they likely would need to find a Canadian partner to administer the tests as well as ensure adequate testing supply is available on a regular basis for departures.

That minimum 45-days before arrival only gives about a month to finalize any plans...

We can only hope that they’ve been working hard on this in the background for weeks or months already

Viking cruises installed their own labs on the ocean ships so they can PCR test throughout the cruise and do the initial and final testing. For those testing on land after disembarking and flying back to the U.S., any testing would have to meet U.S. standards, The U.S. probably has the strictest standards for tests.

Actually the US is one of the easiest countries to fly in when it comes to testing. The only challenges they recently changed it to one day before arrival. All you need is a standard antigen test and documentation has to have your name and birthdate and and they are stated clearly negative. This is for the mainland. Hawaii at the beginning was a bigger challenge because you had to be tested by “verified providers”. All you need is a proctored antigen test enter the US. No restrictions on brand Or provider or proctored. Honestly there really are no standards per se

An interesting read for sure. It also says they'll have things in place by January 2022 and that ship has sailed. I am very curious about how it will all work. I definitely think the random testing with the hold needs to end or else you'd miss your cruise potentially. Also, for our cruise in June we'll currently need to be tested at least four times. (1. Into Canada, 2. embarkation, 3. returning to Canada, 4. Returning to the States) That's a lot of things up your nose, but more importantly, up my kid's noses, for four people fully vaccinated!

I meant standards for tests -not testing. We have traveled internationally in the past year we had to make sure the TESTS met U.S. standards and when we flew back in and yes, the exact type of tests were checked twice before we could board a flight. Testing is not hard once you locate a provider abroad who uses U.S. approved tests. Actually, getting into Germany was easier - no one asked for anything when we entered there. And the trains were not enforcing mask requirements even though they state N95. And we boarded a German run cruise with only verbally attesting to having been vaccinated.
