Hi all -

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good self tanners that could hold up during a Disney World trip. I'm not naturally tan (and I don't go out into the sun without SPF, period) but I want to look a little tan during my trip this June. But I'm worried about the following:

-MELTING. I don't want it streaking off my skin or transferring
-BEING SMELLY. I don't want it to begin to smell bad in the hot sun.
-DID I MENTION MELTING???

Any good brands/products to use? Real tanning is not an option for me.

Thanks!

I really hope you get some ideas with this. I need to know, too!! The Jergen's foam that dries in like a minute is ok but I was hoping to find something that would actually last a few days.

I actually use self tanner for several weeks before my trip, then while I'm there I don't apply it because I'm usually slathered up in sunscreen. Typically the "tan" lasts throughout my trip.

That's such a good idea!

Do you have a brand you prefer? I've only ever used things like St. Tropez bronze mousse that lasts until you shower.

I do the same thing as the PP. I apply leading up to vacation and do not apply while on vacation.

I have used many different types. The one that I have been using lately is a coppertone mouse dark self tanning.

Try the Tan Towel ... it really does work :thumbsup2 ... you can get them from Sephora

I really like Loreal (can't remember the exact name right now and I'm not home to check) but I like the smell of the regular Banana Boat the best, it's vey light and not offensive at all. The Loreal covers well, but the smell is too strong for my liking. For the money, Banana Boat does a great job!!!

If you are especially pasty, I recommend using Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer for the few days before your trip. It doesn't smell and it gives you very natural color, instead of having to worry about being obnoxiously fake-tanned. I am very pale and have found that self-tanners, even the ones for "light" skin, look very fake on me. So the Natural Glow moisturizer just provides a little color and makes me less self-conscious about my ghostly white skin!

Like the Bare Escentuals lotion. It looks good, dries fast and usually only need 2 or 3 applications before our trips and it lasts throughout. It helps of course to exfoliate and lightly moisturize legs before applying.

I like the St Tropez. It doesn't have an odor and I've never had a problem with streaking. It also lasts about a week.

I second this, I just bought the St. Tropez mousse with sponge mit and it is the best that I have used!!!! I bought it from QVC :thumbsup2

Have you looked into airbrush tanning? A friend of mine does it professionally. You pick a tone/colour you like, and they spray it all over you. You shower and exfoliate before you go (say in the evening), have yourself sprayed, wear old baggy clothes to bed, and shower the next morning. Depending on how well you moisturize, the "tan" lasts as long as a regular tan. It basically dyes your skin, and only as your old skin flakes off does the tan gradually fade (just like a regular tan). She only charges $40 for a whole body treatment.

I'm getting a spray tan before my trip in May. I got a Groupon so it only cost me $9, :cool1:

I go to a local tanning place and get spray-tanned (in the booth). I noticed it lasted 7 days before it started rubbing away in the shower and I didn't have a problem with washing it all away after that point. It also didn't have an orange cast to it, so I liked it.

That being said, I think I'm going to embrace my natural ghosty paleness on this trip :).
