Good seat to request for Cat 3 HDDR?

Hi all. The only availability for HDDR on a last minute trip is Cat3. Does anyone have a table # that they enjoyed that they would recommend? We normally go Cat2 and I think it is table 212 (I'd have to check...I'm not sure about that) but it is on the balcony center stage view.

We've never done Cat 3 and just looking for recommendations. (I know nothing is guaranteed but it does not hurt to ask)

Tables are assigned at HDDR first-come, first-served, based on when you make the reservation. The earlier you reserve, the better table you will have, for any category (of course, that Disney's determination of which are the better tables). Not sure how you were able to get the same table for multiple reservations?

One time many years ago we went and had that great table. I made a point to look at the table # on the paper on the table and jotted it down. I've made the request each time since (three times) and have gotten it each time. I know it isn't guaranteed but I think if they see it they'll try to give it to you.

1) HDDR tables in each category are assigned by the date of the ressie.
2) They are assigned 8-days before the show date.
3) There are no requests for tables allowed.
4) Earlier ressies get the better tables.
5) The exception are tables #044 and #045.
6) They are kept open until show-day for last minute handicapped guests.
7) Table numbers are identified as EXAMPLE: 044
. . . floor-level
. . . fourth-row-from-front
. . . fourth-table-from-left

NOTE: I recommend Cat-1. Cat-2 and Cat-3 seats may have posts in the way. Additionally, most Cat-3 seats required you to turn around and/or crank your neck to see.

Thanks for your reply, but #3 is not true unless they've changed the rule in the last year. I've requested and gotten the same table three times.

Regarding # 2: I thought you made a reservation 180 days out for HDDR? So if I make my ressie 180 days out, do they then at day 8 choose those who made ressies at the 180 day mark to give the best category 2 seats to? We are using DDP to pay for it.

Well, you CAN make reservations as far out as 180 days; however, what RustyScupper posts makes sense.

If you made your reservation for, oh, I dunno, February 28 around October 1, and I make my reservation for the same show tomorrow... whenever the responsible persons start assigning tables, they're going to find locations for you and others who called the same day, LONG before they bother looking for a table for me.

1) Cat-3 seats are the least popular.
2) There are frequently open tables.
3) In such cases, it is easy to say "ya, sure" to a request.

NOTE: Although the house might be full, Cat-3 tables normally do not fill up until the week, or even the day, of the show.

My request was for Cat 2 table...center stage in the balcony. Wish I could get cat 2 again, but they are sold out at the last minute like this. The only other time we went and didn't get "our table" was because the only cat they had avail was cat 1. Our table was fine but we liked the cat 2 table better.

we just did HDDR and I changed ressies at the last min, and had to settle for cat. 3----they were fine----DS6 and DD5 loved looking over the balcony and I think it gave them a better vantage point from above:)

Last year I actually requested a change from 2 to 3. IMO the Cat2 seats are awful. We arrived shortly before the show not an hour before as recommended. I was under the impression that was why I ended up with crappy seats. We ended in the center balcony Cat3 overlooking everything and it was great! And DD got to see all of the action.
