Good room at HNY?

Now that Christmas is over :santa: we are getting very excited about our trip ::MickeyMo (only 8 weeks to go)!

Its been a couple of years since we stayed at HNY (and we have never been in school holidays) so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good standard room to request before we go. Years ago when we stayed at DLH we were lucky enough to have a ground floor room with a little private garden; do they have anything similar at HNY? Also does anyone know if rooms near the swimming pool are really noisy - I seem to remember that the changing room at the pool is small and as its the hols here and in France I expect it to be packed.

I had better stop now because I can already feel myself beginning to panic about how busy it will be (used to v quiet January). Imagine what I am going to be like in 7 weeks time!:rotfl:

Any advice will be greatfully received.
Tia

We were upgraded to HNY last Feb half term from NPB (We were late arriving and there was a shortage of rooms!) We had a lovely room on 4th floor overlooking ice rink and lake. The hotel seemed much smaller and quieter than NPB or SL. The Manhattan Restaurant was gorgeous for an early breakfast, very calm and spacious. The pool area was nice if a bit cold, consequently there were children in the spa because it was warmer in there. We ordered a coffee and tea snack pack from room service which came with china cups, we kept the kettle and cups for our stay using the coffee/tea we had brought from home.
Our room was in the main part of the building not the wings which was probably more convenient; straight up in the lift, but as the hotel is quite small I don't think it would matter too much.
Have a fab stay:yay::yay:

Definitely request to be in gramercy park rather than midtown. We have stayed in both and the journey to reception was twice as long from midtown! :thumbsup2

We are in Midtown on 7th floor room 7220. Sat here looking at spectacular view over lake. This is a much better room than the one we had in DLH! The view is amazing - could sit here all day.

Thanks for your replies - I am really excited now.
I think I will leave it up to fate about the room.
I cant believe Micksn that not only did you get upgraded but you got a lakeside view too! Wow, why dont I ever get that lucky.

We were very lucky:yay:Particularly with short walk to Park when it was so cold!
The Parks were busy, but we managed to do everything by getting up early - breakfast at 7 and going in for EMH. We came back to hotel in afternoon and used pool at about 3 when it was quiet. Then back in Park till it closed at 8, we got lots of rides done in the last hour.:surfweb:

It can't hurt to phone or email a few days before you go and ask for a room not too far from reception or as nice a room as possible...I wish I had done this now. Someone else who was going the same time as us did (from the boards) and they got upgraded to Empire State Club! Not saying that will happen, but it can't do any harm. I'll do it every trip from now on, just in case!
