My parents are driving to FL and stopping for 1 night at Hilton Head. This night is over 4th of July weekend. My dad is looking for a good restaurant nearby where they can have dinner that night. He wants something that is easy to find from Disney's Hilton Head resort and is also good of course. I told him that I'd ask on here. Thanks!

There are several restaurants right across the bridge at Shelter Cover. A couple of seafood restaurants and a mexican restaurant.

What kind of food? How fancy? Does it need to have a view?

My personal fave is RedFish, right off Sea Pines Circle. No view, though it has a great atmosphere and wine selection.

4th of July week is the BUSIEST time of the whole year, as is Friday night, since most rentals end/begin on Sat. and people go out the last night. All I can say is: go out to eat EARLY!!!! Such as 5-6 pm. and take advantage of a restuarant that has early bird specials.

Not fancy would be best, because they don't want to have to dress up. A view would be nice, since they've never been to this area before. They're open to pretty much any kind of food. Also, it sounds like a place that takes reservations might be a good idea since it's 4th of July weekend:confused3

Within Walking Distance (all casual dining and just a short walk from the resort)
The Kingfisher, Shelter Cove - 10% DVC discount, early dining specials (but no discount)
Scott's Fish Market, Shelter Cove - 10% DVC discount
Little Venice Restaurant, Shelter Cove
San Miguel's Mexican Cafe, Shelter Cove

Drive
The Old Oyster Factory, 101 Marshland Road (15 minute drive) - 10% DVC discount
Redfish Restaurant and Wine Bar, 8 Archer Road (10 minute drive) - early dining specials, 10% DVC discount

Thanks for all of the recommendations! I've passed them along to my parents so they can hopefully make a reservation at one of the restaurants recommended:)

Not many restuarants in HH take reservations, and the ones that do tend to be the fancier ones. Another suggestion is Cafe Europa, it's casual with an array of offerings, takes reservations, situated under the lighthouse with gorgeous views in Harbour Town. Parking can be difficult though. I can't stress enough: if they are there in time, their best bet is to eat EARLY, at 5 pm.

Also, when they head to Florida (going to Orlando?) the next day, the off island traffic is going to be horrendous. If they can leave early (ie. 7 am) they will be so happy they did. But not sure if they had ideas of hanging around the resort that day or not before heading to Florda, so this advice may not be applicable.

My wife and I ate at the "Old Forte Pub" when we went last time for my wife's Birthday.

The food was fantastic, and the view of the sunset was breathtaking.

Not cheap, but worth it, IMO.

Here is a picture I took from our window view seat:

Scott's is nice, but they might not be able to get in if its Tuesday night. I wouldn't recommend Red Fish or the Kingfisher. Old Fort Pub is excellent as well as the view, it is casual but its pricey. Cafe Europa also has a great view, but its name has changed to The Waterfront Cafe. Check out the restaurant reviews section of hiltonheadlife.com for more options and reviews. They seem to be a friendly bunch and most are time share savvy as well.
