GOOD Restaurant in EPCOT Hotels???

We are looking for our first night (NOT GOING INTO THE PARKS THAT DAY) we get there late, so we will hang out at the pool, then go to dinner in or around the Boardwalk..then watch the Fireworks on the Bridge to EPCOT, before heading to bed!

We were thinking Spoodles (Boardwalk)or Yatchsman Steakhouse (Yatch Club). Any feedback on these two? We will be going with our Toddler.

OR any other good restaurants in the area? Preferably NOT the one in the Beach Club, we ate there last time we came on our HM and weren't impressed!

Spoodles is OK. If you like seafood (and I don't), I hear the Flying Fish is excellent

We really like Yachtsman Steakhouse. Hosted my parent's 50th anniversary family reunion dinner there and they did a great job handling a party of 14. We all received our meals at the same time - hot - and everything was delivered as ordered throughout the meal. My parents enjoyed it so much a few years ago, that when I spoke to my mom this morning about where to eat for my birthday this December on our first night down there, she immediately said she'd like to go back there and that "if it ain't broke, why fix it". I figued she'd want to try something new around the Boardwalk, but we just may end up back there again.

We love Spoodles!! Very good Mediterranean food- we make a meal of the appetizers a lot. We have always had good service. I'd recommend it.

I would skip Bluezoo with a toddler. But Yachtsman Steakhouse is not a bad idea, if the toddler can stay still for a couple of hours. Now Spoodles is a bit less fancy, still nice though, and has pretty good food. There is a lot more action going on there and no one would really notice a toddler that is having a meltdown or wanting to crawl around on the booth. After a day of travel, the little one probably will want to run around some. So I think that I would look at restaurants that will allow him/her to do that.

I don't think any restaurants allow toddlers to run around. It is not safe.

We like Spoodles, Yachtsman's Steakhouse and Blue Zoo. All would be good choices. Flying Fish is supposed to be very good as well. But Flying Fish and Blue Zoo are both primarily seafood.

Two other options are Yacht Club Galley and Beaches and Cream. B&C is small, very popular and only offers burgers and a couple of sandwiches.

If price is a consideration, B&C is the least expensive. Yacht Club Galley and Spoodles are in the moderate range. YSH, Blue Zoo and Flying Fish are all expensive.

Sorry, I guess I should have said squirmy. But there are a number of restaurants that do allow kids to get up and move around during dinner. I just don't think that there is one in the BW area.

I sure wish that restaurants would not allow kids to just run around, unless the restaurant was appropriate for it (ex. Biergarten, WC). But unfortunately, I have seen kids running around the tables in places like CG and no one seems to do anything about it.

Oh well, back to the restaurant reviews.

Eva, I really don't think any restaurants allow it.....the CMs just don't intervene. I think it is up to the parents to not allow their kids to get out of their seats. Just no excuse in my opinion even at McDonalds or the like. It is dangerous and inconsiderate.

Oh, maybe you mean places like 'Ohana where there are activites during the meal? I agree there aren't any places like that in the Epcot hotel area.

Oh, and we have seen kids out of their seats at CG as well. Thankfully it was only once and watching the Dad's behavior, it was not surprising to see the kids out of control. He had on what appeared to be swim trunks and had his ugly feet up on a spare chair!

Well, that certainly killed the thread. I think the issue was which restaurant might be a good choice in the Boardwalk area.

Personally, I'm a fan of FF. Good fish, decent service and a fairly casual environment. We have had several good meals there. It's expensive, though, relative to some of the other options.

No problem; I did a quick reply so didn't have emoticons at my disposal . . . it was a bit tongue in cheek.

I've had the scallops which were great, the grouper was fun, and someone at the table had ravioli though I can't remember what was in it. All I remember is that it was tasty. Oddly enough, this restaurant is one of my favs (since we can't afford V&A every time we go!).

Flying Fish and BlueZoo are both excellent, and pricey. Neither is kid-unfriendly. Spoodles is a safe choice, and I believe the most kid friendly of all.
I would have to try Shula's over Yachtsman, but Shula's is generally not considered the best place to bring kids.

Of all of them, I'd vote for Spoodles.

So many choices in this part of the World. One of the reasons we love BC. Making a meal out of the appetizers at Spoodles worked so well for us in the past. The portions were nice, and as appetizers, they came out very quickly. I recall Spoodles seeming louder than YMSteakhouse, but we like that location also. Yacht Club Galley (no buffet, no characters-at least when we've been there) is another option. Cheaper than the Steakhouse. In the end, I'd choose Spoodles.

How is Flying Fish for children 6 and almost 2. (No I do not let them run around...crawl on and off our lap, maybe, but not around others ). I just need to know that it is not a 3 hour dinner. Also, if the atmosphere is a bit refined I would probably not go. I looked at the kids' menu and it definitely has the best choices for my two.

It was fine last Nov. for our 5 and 4 year olds. They sat there, looked around at the decorations, and colored/drew until the food came. It's not too stuffy, so we didn't feel unwanted at all. Plenty of tables had children with them. But, definitely not the type of place for kids to run around underfoot. Kind of tight between some sections of tables. From your description, I think yours should be just fine.
Our meal, start to finish, was just under 1:25.
p.s. the kid's menu had a 'catch of the day' as well. It was salmon, and a very good portion for the kid's menu price. HTH.
