On the day we are going to MVMCP we plan to take it wasy and relax. I thought a lunch at a different resort might be fun (We'll be staying at AS Movies & Pop Century). I figured a sit down resturant that might be fun for the kids would be nice. Then we could walk around the resort just for a change of scenery and to see the Christmas decorations.

Any suggestions for a restaurant and or resort that would be fun for the kids to see or Christmas decorations that we shouldn't miss? I was considering the Whispering Canyon Cafe, Trail's End and Kona Cafe, but would take other suggestions, too! I will have a car so getting there won't be a problem.

Thanks!

I've never seen WL decorated for Christmas, but I can imagine it will be beautiful. We stayed there 2 years ago and I highly recommend the Whisp. Can. especially if your kids are small. The wait staff is very interactive and the food is great.

How about something on the Boardwalk or Beach Club area? Yacht Club Galley is supposed to have a nice lunch. There is also Beaches and Cream, ESPN, Big River, to name a few. The decorations at both Boardwalk and Beach and Yacht Clubs are really nice.

As I read your post, my very first thought was, "Whispering Canyon". That LODGE is absolutely magnificent at Christmas. The food is good, too, and the atmosphere fun for young (and young at heart!) I love it every time of year -- but something about xmas makes it extra special.

Beaches&Cream at BC/YC is fun, but you could face a wait there (it's small, and no PS). One place my kids really loved to explore was the Dolphin / Swan. Compared to the other resorts, it seems so big and grand to them (tall and towering!) The Dolphin Fountain is much like Beaches (soda-shop atmosphere). Eating at either at these places, you could also enjoy the walk along the Boardwalk. You would be able to check out several resorts all in one visit (YC, BC, Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk). Naturally, all of these would do their best to put out xmas decor.

Lastly -- I hear Grand Floridian does a really great job with its decor -- especially with huge elaborate gingerbread houses. You could either eat there (although the GF cafe isn't exactly "fun" -- I did have b'fast here and it was quite good!) or at some other monorail resort and then tour around on the monorail to several resorts! (Poly, Cont).

But my first choice -- definitely -- would still be that lodge, hands down!!

The BEST meal we had last May was lunch at the GF Cafe. It is just gorgeous, great menu, GREAT service, and good food. We were very impressed. It doesn't have the "gimmicks" that some of the other places have, but it doesnt need them either ;)

THe GF is gorgeous at Christmas, as well, with the huge lifesize Gingerbread house in the lobby.

Plus it's on a monorail!

I agree, the Grand Floridian would be the place to go. Love the christmas tree in the lobby.

for the decorations - WL hands down

for the food - Kona Cafe at the Poly.
