We arrived Thursday the 3rd for 3 nights. Our first stay here as we usually stat at the Hard Rock. Check in was easy but the room was not ready as we were early. We parked the car in the garage and made our way back to the lobby. We went out the back to explore and the Piaza was under construction, Starbucks being refurbed, one restaurant was also closed. Went over to the bar and it was not yet open. By then the room was ready. Back to bell services and headed off to the room. Down an elevator, out the door, back into the east wing and back up an elevator. Why aren’t the wings connected to the lobby? This makes no sense. Anyway….

Get to the room. Nice, large and clean It seemed warm but we had been outside walking. After about 15 minutes we realized there is a problem. The AC was set to 65 but the AC duct was in the closet? I went to the room phone to see about a new room and it was broken. So back to the lobby. The staff could not have been more helpful. They get us a new room and texted us when the person was on the way to help us move. Got to the room OK and it was fine. Good recovery there. The odd room was 1424 in the east wing.

We had an excellent sushi dinner at Kabooki
offsite.

Our first time in the parks since 2013. Looks much the same as then with the new additions. I liked the Gringotts ride. The train to IOA was cool. Simpsons is still as funny as ever. The Bourne stunt show was great. I like how they coordinate the backdrops with the live action. Did Minions and then Jimmy Falon. We both thought this ride was great and a good simulator attraction. And also did Transformers. I had done the one in Hollywood a long time ago.

Dinner Friday was at Antojitos and totally forgettable. Not bad but nothing special.

The next day was IOA and got to the gate 15 minutes before opening and there must have been 1000 people ahead of us. It was 8am opening for everyone. Only took 15 minutes to enter. Then marched off heading toward Harry Potter which we skipped as we had been there. Ended up at the Jurassic Center waiting for the rest of the park to open. At nine we head in and since my wife doesn’t like flume rides I rode River Adventure as a walk on. Still fun. Then walked onto Kong. First time for both of us. A bit rough but still fun. Skipped down to Spider Man but it was delayed. Then I rode the Hulk alone since my wife does not do coasters either. I still like it but getting to be a bit much at 67yo. Back to Spider man to finish IOA,

We then went back to Studios and re-rode Simpsons and Minions then called it a day. It was very hot and humid.

A very fun trip but I doubt we’ll stat at Portifino again. The layout makes no sense whatsoever. But the staff is excellent. I’ve alway thought Leows staff was at least as good as Disney’s.

A final note. Can’t wait to see Epic Universe. The model in the preview center looks awesome.
