Hi all ~ So I made the plunge, and signed up for the Expedition Everest 5K in May, running with my aunt. I have previously said I'd only be running if I was being chased by a gun, but here I am. :rotfl: I've started a Couch to 5K-style app and have been jogging/walking for a few weeks now. Shockingly, I don't hate it (I can't believe I just wrote that).

I've been able to find some capri-style pants for running, but I'm having a hard time finding tops. From what I've read on running blogs and websites, they say that wicking tops are the best ones for running. Specifically, that once the weather gets warm especially you don't want to run in cotton shirts.

I've done a bit of looking and I'm having a hard time finding 1X wicking shirts. At the few places I've looked, even the XL shirts were too small, they appear to be cut pretty "tight", I thought. Also, they are pretty short and I like a top that's longer, so it covers or nearly covers my hiney. :thumbsup2

So, what websites or stores are best for getting good workout gear? I am hoping to be out of the plus sizes in the next few months, but in the meantime, I will need comfortable workout gear.

Thanks!

Yes, wicking is what you want for anything that is touching your body while running. Socks are probably the most important of anything but are often overlooked.

For tops you might want to look for unisex instead of women's or buy one size up in women's. Online will give you the best selection but if you want to find some in a store to try on try the C9 stuff at Target.

I have found some shirts at Academy in that size. Also if they are too small, try the men's section.

Good point about the socks. I never thought of unisex tops but that's a great idea.

I'll look at the C9 stuff, thanks!

I LOVE Zella! Nordies brand of activewear. I have some Zella pants that I've had several years (5?) and are still in great shape! They added plus sizes in the last year? I think. It's definitely a great brand. And great socks too! I probably have 15 pairs of the cushed heel socks. I'm also a fan of Nike's Legend and Miler shirts which Nordies carries in plus sizes.

As others have suggested, trying out the men's section for shirts is a great idea. I'm not sure I've ever seen plus sizes at target but I think they do carry XXL.

Great, thanks, I'll check out the link!

The WalMart stores where I live have a pretty extensive line of plus size tops and pants made by Danskin. I like the tops because they do not have such a fitted cut in the middle area - an area I don't like to emphasize! They are the wicking type tops in bright colors. I have seen 1X, 2X, 3X. They have a special Danskin department with all the activewear.

I would suggest you consider Raw Threads. You will find them on-line but they usually have a booth at the runDisney expos.
