We leave tomorrow :cool1: Hoping to get some advise on good places to watch this particular parade and how early to try to get a spot. We have no clue as we didn't do any parades last time.

Thank you!

We sat on the sidewalk by the waterfall kind of across from the entrance to Bug's Land. I don't think there's a bad spot, but realize that you will definitely get wet--they squirt water on you with every float. Especially if you look like you don't want to get wet.

There are a couple of benches in the area where we were, I don't remember how early we got our spot, but it wasn't too long a wait compared to other parades.

You might want to watch down by the contruction walls in the Paradise pier area. Less people will be in this area because of closed areas so it might be a less crowded spot.

If you really want to avoid the crowds, we happened upon the best spot today. Right along the edge of pacific wharf cafe you can see the parade across the water. So just in case something comes up and you can't grab your spot, this can be your stress-free plan b...maybe grab a quick snack and take a seat.

We decided last second to watch it after it had started going by and enjoyed the view without the wait, and no crowds to deal with after!

Last summer, we wandered along 5 min before the parade started and sat down right in front. It was the first spot you come to if you walk straight in from the gate. Kind of near that sun plaza. I was able to take lots of pics but had to keep hiding the camera because of the squirting water. :)

The following was reported on Mouseplanet a few weeks ago:

"New parade route in DCA – Starting April 16 through August 15, DCA's "performance corridor" changes routes and direction, with parades starting at the Paradise Pier gate (near the Maliboomer) and ending at the Cannery Row gate (next to the Mission Tortilla Factory). This route is slightly longer than the current route from the Sunshine Plaza to Cannery Row, which will be very useful if large crowds show up for the final weekend of Disney's Electrical Parade."

Not sure if this change did indeed happen as reported, but if it did, it may change everything from previous parade experiences. -- Suzanne

Thanks for the heads up. I knew they changed this parade route, but I didnt know where. :thumbsup2

I'm confused!:confused3

The parade doesn't go near Sunshine Plaza anymore??

I've always sat on the cement "benches" in the middle of the plaza. Can I still do this??

Nope - I'm guessing because there is a giant tent for the Food and Wine Festival in the middle of Sunshine Plaza. The parade route changed the day the festival opened apparently.

I watched the parade right outside the tortilla factory last week, and it was perfect!

That was the route that the parade took last week. We were there last week and watched the parade at the last corner across the "street" from the tortilla factory, it was great because we could see the parade coming and turning the corner right in front of us. We just sat on the ground but there were stairs nearby and what looked to be a restuarant or viewing area above us.

We'll be there next week, how early will we need to find a place to sit? Has it been busy the past couple of weeks?

Any information on what route this parade is taking currently (Post Aug 15th)? And best place to see it?

I also was trying to find out what route the Pixar parade is taking (Sept 10th)
Want to have a heads up before we arrive.:thumbsup2

We were there August 22nd-28th and the parade was following the route given above - from the Maliboomer, round past the lake (and the World of Colour viewing area), to the Mission Tortilla place.

It was really easy to find a place to see the parade - we turned up 5 minutes before and sat down but there were gaps of literally 20-30m near us even once the parade started. We watched once from opposite the Jumping Jellyfish and once by the World of Colour area. The only place there seemed to be a crowd watching was at the end of the parade route, by Mission Tortilla - probably people arriving from the entrance and then stopping to see the parade, or simply not being able to cross once it had started!

Great! I hate fighting for a spot to see any parade with little kids. Sounds like no problem.
