We are planning another trip to disney this summer and would like to try some new places to eat. My DH has retinitis pigmentosa which means he has no peripheal vision and no night vision. Wondering if anyone can suggest good places to eat that are not real dark inside. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We have traveled to Disney 3 times and have tried several places but would like to try some new ones as this time it will just be us adults. Thanks:flower3:

The only one that really would be dark is the Sci Fi Dine In.

I would say that for reduced light levels it would tend to be the signature restaurants and/or such as V&A, Narcoossee's, Jiko, California Grill, Yachtsman's Steakhouse, Coral Reef, San Angel, Biergarten.

What you might want to do is carry a small, bright, pocket-size flashlight which might assist in seeing menus if there is not sufficient light.

The restaurant in Mexico at World Showcase is also quite dark. But France is very bright and excellent. We have not eaten there yet, but Crystal Palace in MK seems to be bright and open also. The restaurant (Garden Grill?) at the bottom of the Land is well lit and has a good variety.

Crystal Palace is very bright (much of the ceiling is glass) and the food is good too. It is a character buffet with characters from Winnie the Pooh. If he has problems with too much light, that may be too much light. There are places in the restaurant that are less light, depending on where the sun in. If he needs light, but no glare, you can ask the person at the check in desk and/or you can arrange him so the sun is behind him.

The Garden Grill is the full service restaurant on the top level of the Land (level you enter the building on). I haven't eaten there recently, but it appears fairly well lit. It is a rotating restaurant that overlooks the scenes on the Living with the Land ride.
The restaurant at the bottom of the land is a food court. It is well lit (especially if it is sunny outside because there is a skylight at the top of the ceiling). Because it is a food court, there is a lot of choice of food.

Besides the other ones people mentioned, two that I know are dark are the Biergarten in Germany (not real dark, but not really bright either) and the full service restaurant in China.

Another bright restaurant I just thought of is in Tomorrowland. I can't think of the name, but it is just as you enter Tomorrowland from Fantasyland. It has a lot of windows and in the biggest seating area, you are 'entertained' by an 'alien' who is singing and playing dinner music. There are 3 counters to buy food and each counter has a little different selection.

Cosmic Ray's. I think ;)

I think that the Coral Reef tends to be dark also, but Le Cellier is nicely lit, even though it has no (?) windows.

The darkest by far as the place in Mexico, Mama Melroses, the Coral Reef, Planet Hollywood, the Brown Derby, Shula's, Bistro, and the two Rainforest Cafe's.

The brightest are Chef Mickey's, 50's Prime Time, GF Cafe, the California Grill, Chef's De France, Tony's, Beaches & Cream, and 1900 Park Fare.

Everything else is pretty much in the middle.

Thanks to all who have answered. I really appreciate it. I am just trying to find places that will be enjoyable for both of us. Thanks again:thumbsup2
